    How does Synchron-ized Special Editions compare to the VI engine in terms of CPU usage and performance? Have there been any improvements, does anybody notice any difference, especially if using a vast number of instruments? Vienna Instruments have done a marvellous job in the past at not overusing CPU and disk resources. I can easily load 3-6 articulations per instrument as separate VI instances in my setup. Can't say that about other libaries. How does Synchron Player compare in this regard?

    Well, it kinda makes sense this way. The Vienna Synchron Pianos is a host software for the piano libraries, just like the Vienna Synchron Player is a host for all the instrument libraries.

    Hi there,

    I dont understand the upgrade prices. I already have:

    Se Vol 1 Perc & More

    Se Vol 2 Strings+Strings Plus

    Se Vol 2 Appasionata+Appasionata plus

    I dont see any personal additional discount for these libs.

    Hi MrChick, 

    You will need to upgrade to the VI Special Edition Volumes first, then you can get the crossgrade prices to the SYNCHRON-ized Special Editions. We have lowered the prices A LOT to make this even more rewarding.

    It doesn't seem to have a working soft pedal. Don't know what other nerfs might be available, other than reduced mic position variety.

    Hi ..

    I have VI Special Edition vol 1 and Crossgrade to Sy-ized vol 1 and Love it so much

    and I have VI Special edition Vol 2 STR (Section):

    1. is there any Crossgrade to SY-ized vol 2 STR (Section)?

    2. or I have to Complete my Vol 2 STR section to Vol 2 Complete, then Crossgrade to SY-ized SE Vol 2

    3. or Just Buy SY-ized SE Vol 2?

    4. If i have to buy SY-ized SE vol 2, how about my VI SE vol 2 STR? it become useless? or?

    Hi,

    It would be best for you to complete your VI SE Vol 2 while the sections are still available, then crossgrade for a very small price to the Synchronized version. You'll take advantage of having and using both players.

    Hello,

    I have a question regarding Appassionata strings:

    If I look in the "Instrument List" tab and in the Volume 2 column, I see "x (bonus)" next to Appassionata strings. What does this mean? Does it mean that the Appassionata strings are included in Volume 2 without the need to purchase Volume 3? If so, what does the "(bonus)" next to the "x" mean? A limited time offer?

    It is a bit confusing and I haven't found any clear explanation so far. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi Benjamin, Every time you see the “x” sign it simply means that this particular instrument is included in that particular volume. It goes for all of them. The Appassionata Strings in Vol. 2 are included as a Bonus which means you will find them to have only a few of the articulations. Like Sustains with no Legato patches for example, one kind of Short articulation and etc. In other words your choice will be more limited but nevertheless you’ll have Appassionata Strings included as a Bonus. If you decide to purchase Volume 3 however, you’re going to have many more articulations and you can completely replace your Appassionata Strings from Vol. 2. Hope that clarifies it for you!     Every time you see the “x” sign it simply means that this particular instrument is included in that particular volume. It goes for all of them. The Appassionata Strings in Vol. 2 are included as a Bonus which means you will find them to have only a few of the articulations.     Hello, I have some doubts. First, sorry my english.

    1. Why synchron special edition volume 1 is 40 gigs heavier than the old one? And why does the volume 1 plus only weigh 1 giga more?

    2. Another question is: I do not like using keyswitches to change articulation, is there a possibility in synchron player to use X and  Y axis with midi cc controls?

    3. And finally, is there the possibility, if necessary, put the dry instrument as the original special edition?

    Hi FRG,

    1. The Synchronized SE 1 has a light version of the Synchron Concert D piano included, which alone needs ~33 GB. Also Solo Violin 2 and Solo Cello 2 were added. The Vol 1 Plus package adds some articulation to the instruments of Vol 1 (araound 12 GB: https://www.vsl.co.at/en/Synchronized_Special_Edition_Bundle/Synchronized_Special_Edition_Vol1_Plus#!Product_Info)

    2. The Synchron Player has not the same matrix structure as the VI player has, so there are no X-Y axis. It uses a tree structure, which is also configurable and you can choose to use KS, Program change, CC, and more for switching articulations.

    3. Yes, you can disable the reverb and use the dry sound.

    I've downloaded the Synchron SE1 and am installing it but is it usual for it to take hours for the installation?  I'm current up to 17% but this has taken over 2 hours so far? I'm installing from the SSD on a 2016 MacBook to a Samsung T5 Portable SSD. At this rate it's going to be 7 hours for the install. Is this correct? Thanks

    No, that does not sound normal! Are you using the latest Vienna Download Manager? Especially needed for the Synchron libraries!

    Hi horsehead, 

    Also, the Samsung T5 often comes formatted as ExFAT, which works very poorly with our data format. 

    Best to reformat as macOS, then installation will work.

    I've crossgraded to SYNCHRON-ized SE Vol 1. Easily worth it for the Steinway D alone, but I've encountered a problem I can't solve with my limited VSL skillset. In Synchron Player, even with dynamic range set to 127, the velocity response is such that I can't achieve the kinds of ppps and pps (all the way down to ppppppp -- i.e. silent) playing the same VIs (e.g. violin 1, legato) in VI Pro or even VI standard. In other words, my performance range is kind of p to fff. I've tried adjusting everything in sight and did a search on "velocity" in the Synchron Player manual (haven't read it, though), to no avail. Am I missing something obvious? Is there a way to adjust the underlying MIDI velocity response curve?
