instructions......

Take white noise from a synth (Pro 53) EQ out everytrhing that is harsh anroute the output to TODD AO IR room (completely wet)

I used the "Nightlife" cue from Goldsmith's Basic Instinct and match-eq'd the AIR at top of track to my white noiz and then wet it down completely....

Perfect 10 ...I Sh%t you not [;)]

There's a dedicated switch labeled "Roomtone" in the master-section to add a loop of about five minutes silence, recorded around 3 and 4 o'clock in the morning. It will adapt to the output-format chosen, so you will have 5.1-"ambience", too, if you like. All obvious noises like a loud truck in the distance, or the small clicks and squeeks of the wood are cut, of course. - One could call it "bio-dither" [:)]

Herb, an air sample or "quiet waiting musicians" would be nice to have before the MIR. (I won't buy the MIR just for the Breath samples [[;)]] )

The only problem I foresee with 'audience or orchestra present' ambiences is that unless you have quite a range to choose from they become very recognisable. Any rustle or sound that's even slightly discernable becomes a musical cue and you know exactly where the next one will be. They might fool the average punter for a time but for musician's and composers they will soon become more of a giveaway than the instrument samples themselves.

thanks guys...I pretty much figured multi impulse response, but just wanted to make sure...
maybe can all contribute to this library by recording ourselves doing some heavy breathing and shuffling our feet... ; ) ...

but the point of having room sound is definitely a good one...they use room noise for films when they recreate an environment and do ADR and all that stuff, and I think the result works quite well.
