  • VSL Brass for Funk, Disco, 70s Crime Music, etc.

VSL Brass: I was wondering if VSL is specialised in the classic sounds of brass, or it also can be used for Funk, Disco, 70s Crime Music, etc.

    Any idea?

    Is it a good choice?

Is there something better for this purpose?

    Greets,
    Marky

  • welcome marky,
well, sometimes our users do double-post in different forums because a topic might not 100% belong to just one ... but triple post in one group?
i've left this one and deleted the others to avoid kind of forking, christian

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Hmm, Well I think you probably could use VSL brass for such things, but it's intended for chamber, and full orchestral music. Question is, is what kind of articulations do you need.

  • This may put you off Vienna Instruments forever, but i was trying some things out with the trumpet samples and recorded a very short Latin trumpet phrase.

You won't get this sound straight out the box, but it took me 5 minutes work and was done with just one articulation.

  • Hi Marky! I´ve been working as a professional arranger and MD for over thirty years and you would not normally book a classical Trumpet man for a session to play the styles you have suggested unless he is Wynton Marsalis, not many orchestral Trumpet players play in the styles you want, perhaps that helps answer your question? [:D]

  • not impressed by my cheesy trumpets eh?
try some heavy duty brass instead.
Again, this was recorded in real time using 5 VIs simultaneously.

i'm pretty sure the opening's from something else too.
One day i might post something longer than 10 seconds.

  • Hi Tommo, sorry but that´s even Cheesier than the last demo !
