    VSL Brass: I was wondering if VSL is specialised in the classic sounds of brass, or it also can be used for Funk, Disco, 70s Crime Music, etc.

    Any idea?

    Is it a good choice?

    Is there something better for this purpose?

    Hmm, Well I think you probably could use VSL brass for such things, but it's intended for chamber, and full orchestral music. Question is, is what kind of articulations do you need.

    This may put you off Vienna Instruments forever, but i was trying some things out with the trumpet samples and recorded a very short Latin trumpet phrase.

    You won't get this sound straight out the box, but it took me 5 minutes work and was done with just one articulation.

    Hi Marky! I´ve been working as a professional arranger and MD for over thirty years and you would not normally book a classical Trumpet man for a session to play the styles you have suggested unless he is Wynton Marsalis, not many orchestral Trumpet players play in the styles you want, perhaps that helps answer your question? [:D]

    try some heavy duty brass instead.
