I'd be grateful for the favor of some advice.
I'm pretty keen to buy the standard version of the VI Solo Strings, but am unable to determine whether they make use of the Standard or Extended versions of the library. I think I'm hearing things that are only in the Extended version.
Is the Standard version adequate, in other words?
I see in reviewing the articulations list broken down by Standard vs. Extended that while the Standard column has just a few light notations, the Extended list is absolutely black with verbiage. It seems like a preponderance of the good stuff has been covetously reserved to the Extended library, with the Standard acting like a sales trailer.
Is that at all accurate? Could one hope to get a fully expressive performance with only the Standard version?
How can one explain the almost infuriatingly large difference between what's offered with the Standard version and the Extended? Shouldn't it be more like 1/2 and 1/2?
Am I out of my mind? I'm holding out that possibility. Please advise.
