Beat, thanks for the info as well as the kind and forbearing words. [:)]
I gather then that from your point of view the Extended version of the library would be nearly essential?

Hi again
Yes! Check out the samples you will get with the standard- or the extended library... If we take the Soloviolin for example: Music without a crescendo? How to end a piece without a diminuendo? You can simulate it by fading out a sustained tone but it will not be the egg yolk...
The link for comparing articulations:
http://www.vsl.co.at/en-us/211/344/217.vsl Choose then "Articulations" and do it for your favoured instrument too.
Another thing is if you want to use for example strings for background music or for creating some nice (legato-) runs.
So putting together: The use for more likely solo entrys > Extended- ... for background music you will be happy with the Standard- Library too.
But you know - the Standard-Library contains the Extended Library as well for checking out it some days and starts... don't do it... [[;)]]
The sample story:
I started my "sample-career" with the X-sample libraries. Staccato and Sustained samples, two levels each type. Wow! Then I continued with Peter Siedlaczek's libraries > a new Wow..! Today I'am happy about every additional articulation... Disadvantage: The more samples the less money...
