  • Vl-14_tr-HS_cre glitches

Hi! I searched to see if any one else had posted on this, but couldn't find any topics. In the Vl-14_tr-HS_cre patch, about 2 1/3 sec. into the sample of B5 and C6 (two 8ves above middle C) the sound stutters briefly... not sure if my file is corrupted or not... can anyone else reproduce this?

    Thanks!
    --Kristopher

  • It's a corrupt wav file.
Such defects could appear by simple copy jobs.
1 out of 10.000 files seems to be infected by our beloved MS-windows.

I'll post a replacement wav tomorrow.

    Thank you, Kristopher

    Herb

  • Herb,

Could you check these files too please? ( I posted this in another topic)

KB-6_stac_f1_E2.wav has more than one pitch!
VC-8_stac_ff1_B2.wav (as above: high d overtone)
    VC-8_stac_ff1_G3.wav (also)
    VC-8_sV_espr_4s_ff_D3.wav : has a disturbing "wobble" noise

    Thanks - Colin

PS - How about a file/bug report area on this forum (for the rare problems [[;)]] )

  • Here is a replacement wav for the VI-14_tr_HS_cre_C6

    http://www.vsl.co.at/upload/forum/VI-14_tr-HS_cre_C6.wav

the WAV file was OK in our dabase and only corrupted in the gigfile,
    really don't know why, sorry.

Here is a ART file for the KB-6_SHORT-NOTES

    http://www.vsl.co.at/upload/forum/01_KB-6_SHORT-NOTES.art

please save a copy of the gigfile before you attach the artfile, if there are compatibilty problems, let me know.

I did little tuning adjustments on D#2 and E2 in mf and f.
Our tuning team will have another look at it after finishing the Pro Edition.

For the Celli staccatos I'm not sure what we should adjust.
Forced playing causes sometimes overtones, to avoid them, means playing with less force.
In real life these things are no problem, for a sample library you have to find the right balance between "pure sound" and playing artefacts.
I personally want to develop the library to more forced samples.
One example will be fff 0'3s notes of the Double basses (in the Pro edition)
It's incredible what kind of playing noise the players are producing.

The ff espressivo of the celli, I would say these are bow changes.
At this dynamic level the players have to change 3 to 5 times for a 4 second tone. The players try to make the changes as "invisible" as possible, and in a random progression.
In some notes the changes are a little louder.

Generally thanks a lot for the input.
You can post or email mapping errors or similiar problems to office@vsl.co.at

With the Pro Edition release we also want to offer a dedicated support site here, with artfiles, FAQs and so on.

I'm going to finish the Pro Edition mapping within the next 2 weeks.
After that I have time to make any corrections.

    best wishes
    Herb

  • Herb,

thanks for being so hands on. [:)]

  • Thanks, as always, for the fast response Herb.

You said: "For the Celli staccatos I'm not sure what we should adjust. "

I think I'll probably just re-map the EXS24 instruments with these samples if they worry me, using adjacent samples.

Regarding KB-6_SHORT-NOTES: Do we need a fix for the EXS24 too?

I think there is no harm in finding these small errors - after all, this is the "First Edition". [:D]
I'm grateful that you folks at VSL are so responsive and willing to make adjustments and improvements, however small. I'm happy I've bought into this project at an early stage......

    Regards - Colin

Are fixes like this accessible via the User Area? If there are replacements or updates, it would be useful to have them in one location for registered users. Not all users may be reading this forum on a regular basis.

Thanks for all your great work!

  • we are working on a new version of the user area with several submenues. file-updates - for registered users only, of course [;)] - will be one of them.
