  • Hi Paul,

During the iLok upgrade the distinction was made between the Vienna Instruments player and the Vienna Instruments Pro player.  If I recall correctly, the former was ported to iLok and the latter wasn't.

Is there similar distinction for the M1 port?

    Thanks,

    Robert

  • I was out of the VSL Game for some years and try to get back to the actual status quo and I´m a little bit confused.

I´m on Ventura on a Studio Max now. My plan was to do everything on one machine.

Coming from the VeProSetup, that I used back in 2013-2015 on a second machine (Windows7), I wonder what is the best solution now.

    - Should i use my MacPro 2010 as a Slave now? Does it work with my old Mac on Mojave and the Studio Max on Ventura?

    - Should I do all on my Studio max now? With Rosetta, native whatever? How fast will there be a limit, when VEPro is not native?

    - Is my old MIR-Engine still useful? I prefer working with VI-Pro. Is this obsolete now?

    - Do I need Mir Pro 3d, if I want just to work in Stereo? Are there sound improvements?

Sorry, for being lost. What would you suggest as the best solution.  I want to work with my whole Orchestra on demand again: Symphonic Cube, Dimension-Strings and Brass.

  • Hi everybody,

@Kai: This workaround will always be possible with the free Vienna Ensemble that comes with all our products!

@Pere: We decided to make VI Pro the standard player for all users with iLok. It will stay that way, whether or not we manage to port VI Pro to Silicon or not.

@Sagi: You should try with your one-computer Studio Max, in my opinion. You can still use your classic MIR, but the upgrade to MIR Pro 3D is available at a great price, with a free 3D RoomPack and reasonable upgrade prices for your other RoomPacks as well. Check it out with free demo licenses, available on the product pages. Handling and sound has been improved with Higher Order Ambisonics, a "denser" calculation of impulses that are also applied when using downmixes to stereo.

  • Hi all,

is there any chance you guys will get Vienna Imperial native too? For me it is by far the best piano out there.

I am more than happy to buy a completely new license!
It is (for me) the very only plugin that would be Rosetta forever. Since I use it every I would need a second computer whenever Apple stops supporting Rosetta in a future OS

Or when you release a new piano product, add the Vienna samples as well?

Please find a way, this would be so frustrating for me. Thank you

  • Paul

You mention in the video that VE Pro will have a dual sever architecture that will accommodate both Intel and Apple Silicon.

Unless I’ve misunderstood what that means, wouldn’t it make more sense to release VE Pro first or at least next? That’s assuming an Apple Silicon VE Pro plug-in could access both Intel/Silicon servers of course.

    Dear patient VSL Community!

We're starting our rollout for Apple Silicon Native, please find more information in this video!

Thank you very much for this communication : it very very welcomed as it gives me more insights about the current situation and what we can expect in the future in particular with the Apple Silicon transition.

  • Hi,

I totally understand how valuable VI Pro and also the classic Vienna Imperial can be in a working environment and we are doing our best to investigate what's possible after the transition of the more recent software products.

Just throwing this in here, before panicking over a possible end of Rosetta 2 in the very long run: There is always Windows, and even if it's just a small machine that holds your VI Pro collections and Imperial.

@Marsdy: You are right, that would be great. It will most probably be Synchron Pianos and MIR Pro before that, we will benefit from all the additional fixes in these software products.

  • OK, so I gather I shouldn't get my hopes up that VI Pro will be ported to Silicon (though I know you will try). But it sounds like VEPro, and the MAS plug-in, eventually will, so I should always be able to run my VI libraries on an Intel Mac running VEPro (or on a Windows machine). Do I have that right?

  • Hi dmansfield,

You can even/also run your VI Pro on your Silicon computer, simply by running the Rosetta version of VE Pro.

  • Thank you for the synchron player AS update. Works great !

Looking forward for the other synchron players.

  • Paul, this is fantastic news!  Congrats on both getting close and also optimizing code for all of the VSL products and engines.

Quick question - will the apple silicon version support a multiport VE Pro connection to Logic X? If so will both AU and AU3 be supported in Logic X?  I still find the tempo mapping of AU (vs AU3) more useful in Logic X in prior tests on intel Macs.

    THANK YOU!

    Jeff Beal

  • Hi Paul,

I didn't hear anything about Apple Silicone for the classic non 3D version of Mir Pro. Sounds like you will only be updating Mir Pro 3D, right?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

    Thanks for the interest!

@Jeff: There will be no change to the current version of AU3, so it will work like before. However, we're on to something there...

@Vinny: That's correct, the classic MIR Pro (2D) will not be ported to Apple Silicon.

  • Just another big +1 on hoping that you will find a way and the resources to also port Vienna Instrument Pro and Imperial. They are essential in my work and I use them directly in my daw for easier use with effects etc. Also I write a lot while traveling so another machine won’t be possible once Rosetta is phased out. Glad you are making progress on VEP, MIR 3D and your other products! Best

  • Thanks Paul - OK, I just checked the latest VEP7 in Rosetta and AU3 plug is finally working in multiport mode in Apple Silicon, thank you!

  • As saxmand said "Just another big +1 on hoping that you will find a way and the resources to port" I would be so happy if you find a way for Imperial.

Dear Paul, maybe as an idea - If it is too hard to port, since it is basically samples like all your other pianos (and only 3 microphones) you basically need a sample player? Can you just put them into a future product as an "alternative piano"? I would be more than happy to pay for a new license if you get Imperial Apple silicon native.

Crossing all my fingers - thanks so much

    Best, Tom

  • Hi everybody,

Our Synchron Pianos player is now available as Silicon Native version.

Check your Vienna Assistant to download it. We're looking forward to your feedback!

  • Very disappointing to hear that ports of VI Pro and Imperial are not planned. VI Pro is the best :(

  • Any news on Apple Silicon? Still checking this forum every morning.

  • Hi everybody,

A new update of MIR Pro 3D was just released, with great performance improvements for everyone and of course it's now also Apple Silicon ready!

    Best,
    Paul
