  • Hetoreyn, I like the sound of your AUMatrixReverb preset, quite rich, a bit lexicon-like, i'd say...but I have a problem:

I load your preset from Logic's dropdown PlugSettings menu ( I copied it into:
    User/Library/Application Support/Logic/Plug-In Settings/AUMatrix reverb)...so far, so good.

But, when I save the song the AUMatrix reverb changes the setting back to some default or other -your preset is gone and I have to reload it. This also happens "in between" even without saving the song -it's a real nuisance.

Do you know how I can make Logic keep the setting when saving the song please?

    thanks a lot

    Nigel

  • Yes I have noticed this too. I use 5 different kind of settings for my Matrix Reverbs. The overall concert .. which is the one you have downloaded, and all the others somehow seem to reset when you open a new song.

The easy way around is, as you say, to just go into the matrix reverb and click the reset to load it again. I do not know why it does this, but since you're having this problem too I'd say it's apples coding that is too blame here.

They'll probably fix it before long. I'm not sure as to why your setting is going even without saving the song. That is most strange and I'm not sure what you can do for this. It is possible you're using all of your RAM and thus it can't hold the reverb in memory anymore, but even that sounds rather far fetched.

I think this one is really down to apple, I'll report it to the logic department as a bug. Again glad you liked it. I really find this reverb excellent for writing with. In most cases I master with the Sound designer reverb, but the AUMatrix unit is really most useable.

  • Well how about this as a workaround: using automation to control the parameters?

I can see all the settings you programmed, except one:the Factory Preset -which one was it (which room algorithm)? That might help.

Oh, I see that won't work, because only Wet/Dry Mix and Small/Large Mix are available in Logic's automation.

I've searched my Hard drive to try to find where Apple "hid" the Factory presets....couldn't find them though.

    Thanks Hetoreyn

  • Hetoreyn,

The link doesn't seem to work anymore for your preset: have you decided to discontinue it?

    Best wishes,

    John.

  • Hmmm .. that's odd. I hadn't discontinued it. But my boys at my website have been redesigning lately so it may just be that it'll go back up in a day or so. The site is still active but obviously the file is missing. Send me an e-mail and I'll e-mail it back to you. hetoreyn@yahoo.co.uk

My site is due a major overhaul and will be replaced in a day or so by the new one. I will make sure that the reverb file is back online. But in the meantime if anyone else wants it .. please send me an e-mail and I'll send it along.

    Hetoreyn?

    thanks [[;)]]

  • The room preset was based on the Catherdral setting.

  • The Reverb file is now back on my site in the VSL section.

  • hetoreyn,

I found these http://homepage.mac.com/john.adair/.Public/matrixreverb_settings_r2d2.dmg">http://homepage.mac.com/john.adair/.Public/matrixreverb_settings_r2d2.dmg that you might want to try. I've used one and it sounded good. But I can't get your preset or these other ones to load up in a Logic song. Maybe I've stored the presets in the wrong location, but I can only see one AUmatrixreverb folder. Hmmm.

Oooh, I'll give them a try. The folder it should go in should be in your 'USER' directory. If you try putting it in the HD\\library\\application support etc it won't work cos those are for default settings only. User made settings have to go in the HD\\user\\library etc folder.

It's the same with VSL files. If you save your own settings that will also end up in the same directory .. for EXS files of course. This link will show you a pic of my finder, showing you exactly where the file should be. [:D]

  • Thanks for the reply hetoreyn. My presets do seem to be in the correct folder, and there is no aumatrixreverb folder in the HD\\library\\application support\\etc anyway... Bizarre. There are presets supplied with aumatrixreverb that you select from a pull down menu, but I can't seem to find where these are stored. I thought that would help me work out where to store the new presets...

  • Hmm, Strange. It seems you're right about there not being a library folder, I had assumed that there must be one because Logic has these default settings. As zou've probably seen.

Well the AU presets are undoubtably burried somewhere in Mac OS. Is my preset working for you yet or are you still not able to pull it up.

If you can't then I can only assume that if you are using a different version of logic, and Mac OS (though this seems incredibly unlikely that it would matter) that it may not show up. I am using the latest version of Logic Pro 7 and Mac OSX. I'm going to be working some more on my reverb soon anyways, try to get it sounding better.

  • Logic 7.1.1 OS 10.3.9

I can use your reverb, but it appears in the pull-down menu under the bypass button, not with the factory presets. And it doesn't load with a song, I need to manually select it after loading.

No worries, I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually! Hope the new presets come in useful at some point.

    Regards,

    Irvin

  • Hetoreyn,

You kindly sent me a copy of the reverb but it doesn't "appear" to have an icon (i.e. it's blank). Also I just have the "Overall Concert.aupreset" on my system (no icon, tho'): the Group 1 through to Group 4 I don't have at all.

Curiously I downloaded Irvind's recommendation (John Adair) and that seems to show up O.K.

Any idea why this is happening?

  • The Group 1 - 4 presets are particular settings that I have also made and are not part of the Overall reverb. They really are just left overs from me trying to figure out how to get to the overall version that I haven't deleted yet.

As for the Icon. Not sure. You should only get an AU file. OIf course it should be represented by an icon in itself. I tried downloading it and it gaqve me an icon so there can't be any issue with the file.

Also I should have said that the preset is supposed to appear under the pull down menu and not as part of the factory stuff. [:D] As for it not loading with the song, yeah I have noticed this and I can find nothing that I can do about it. It is an apple thing that hopefully they will correct before long.
