Remove the elicenser dongle and launch VEP. See if that works for you.

I uninstalled VEP -> removed my elicenser dongle -> Restarted my machine -> Installed VEP -> Restarted my machine and launched VEP. It's launching now. Now I plugged my elicenser back in and tried. It shows the error message that no valid license found, but VEP launches after that. So I guess all it required was a restart after installation.

I uninstalled and reinstalled VEP several times. After each deinstallation and installation I restarted my PC.
After each restarting I run Maintenance for my elicenser.
Windows is up to date.
The keyless-Demo Version is since yesterday up.
I guess, I should wait for bugs to be removed. This bug is now fixed for the next update. Thanks for reporting.

I have a similar problem to the one stated in this thread.
The keyless VEP won't start up when an eLicenser dongle is connected. If I disconnect it, all is fine. If I connect it, VEP either stays on the splash screen forever, or silently dies after some time.
I should mention that I'm trying to set it up in a VirtualBox environment, but the eLicenser Control Center works fine, so does VEP keyless without the eLicenser. I have a 32 core FreeBSD server with 64GB of RAM, so I run a Win10-64 guest in VirtualBox and assign it 8 cores and 32 GB of RAM to run some libraries for me, so my laptop is happy.
EDIT: Maybe also worth mentioning: I have a first generation Steinberg eLicenser. Is that a possible issue?
I just want to make sure I won't have the issue once I buy the full version.
Anything I can try with the keyless version? I wonder why it checks for the eLicenser at all actually...

Hi,
thanks.
It doesn't work. I think there's an issue with the eLicenser on the host USB port. It is recognised by the eLicenser software in the guest OS, but not very reliably. I guess either the eLicenser or the VirtualBox USB causes the issue.
I'll test on another machine (no VirtualBox there). If it works there (which I assume), I'll order a ViennaKey with a license. If that works on the VirtualBox, I can order a second license for use on my old eLicenser on my desktop machine.
Thanks for the effort, I'll post an update how it works...
