I am confused. My VSL steinway is looking for an fxp file for a preset. Where are there fxp files on this forum?
Thank you!!!

In the zip files ATTACHMENTS OF ALMOST EVERY POST IN THIS THREAD.
I misread your post and totally igonored the fact that you're looking for an fxp file. Why would you need an fxp file? Just place the vsynpreset file inside Documents/VSL/Vienna Synchron Pianos/Presets.

Anyway - I figure it out along what you are saying. The vsynpreset files in this thread have to be moved to a VSL preset folder in the computer before they will open up!
BTW - when I save a preset on my computer from the save preset function, it does create an FXP file. And they do load into it as well. A little confusing, but I think I understand it all now!
Thank you,AB

I've renamed all of my personal presets, to be more recognizable in the context of which piano as well as close vs. stage etc. But the last time I tried to rename attachments here, it kept the old ones and added the new ones, creating confusion, so I'm just leaving it be for now, as I didn't really tweak any of the settings yet anyway. Hopefully the descriptions I provided earlier are enough to help, if the preset names are confusing or seem genre-specific where they shouldn't be.
I may have a couple more (new ones) to post shortly, and I did modify my Yamaha preset but I'm not posting it yet because it hasn't made it all the way through a production cycle, which is what I consider the proof in the pudding.
UPDATE (6 March 2021): I have tweaked all of my presets now, and was about to post them (including new 280VC and a heavily revised CFX), but then there were two updates by VSL (one to CFX and one to all of the pianos) right afterwards, so I need to integrate the new features and do a final review before posting, as well as see whether I learn anything from the new presets in Rabih's post that follows mine.
-
My presets for the 280VC (Standard library only).
- Reverb is off in the mixer but it's highly recommended to either turn it on or use a 3rd party reverb (like i do).
- Velocity curve and sensitivity both left untouched. Up to you to tweak according to your controller. I personally leave everything at default because the 280 VC feels/sounds great to me as is when played through my Yamaha HS80M monitors.
- Some volume adjustments were done on the upper range in the edit page.
- Some minor frequency taming was done on certain notes on the upper range in the edit page.
Enjoy.

I'm new to the forum and the Synchron Steinway D-274. Someone in the thread said, "Just place the vsynpreset file inside Documents/VSL/Vienna Synchron Pianos/Presets." Is that all there is to it, or is there something else that needs to be done? I appreciate any help you might offer. Looking forward to getting to know this instrument.

Please note that Overture4 preset is also for VSL Synchron Concert D-274 not the VSL Yamaha CFX. You may wish to correct it in your post.

It's a versatile patch for playing a modern style live with the compromise of a warm and possibly hard expression that works with the full version of the Steinway D-274.

Here is my VSL's Pianos Velocity map that reference from Pianoteq 7
why reference from Pianoteq 7?
because I have played quite a lot piano vst and find out that every piano vst have they own touching.
But not for Pianoteq [Physical Modelling Synthesis Plugin] not [Sampled Plugin]
Pianoteq is my BEST about RESPONSE
But I prefer love VSL about SOUND.
So I pull response from Pianoteq to VSL.
"Here is my method."
set E3 [because it's almost a middle note of 88 keys] on Max velocity to calculate sound volume [monitored by Fabfilter L2] compare with Pianoteq 7 which is I miking as close as VSL's Pianos were on "close" mic [I use Ribbon sf24] and disable Repetation Smear for easier look.
using 15 possibillities Velocity [+8 from 0] and set those point by reference from Pianoteq 7.
Edited with Notepad
Hope you love it.

I finally found the Best Velocity for my Steinway Hamburg that I love!!
I have Deeply researching it for a month and here is my method.
*PROBLEM
VSL Steinway on Default Velocity Curve, I kinda hate how it sound so hard.even thouogh I play pianissimo. Unlikely CFX, I kinda love CFX response feel.
*SOLUTION
1.I need to find out how many Layers they really have by using Fabfilter L-2
and I got 60 Layers (Silent key included)
2.Make it True Linear by X = Layer*100/60, Y = 100-(100/128*midi signal)
3.I load the Velocity Preset on CFX and play. WOW it more response But Steinway's response feel still so hard.
4.I use MIDISHAPESHIFTER to curve the True Linear by reference from CFX.
5.I change The X to make it curve like SOLUTION 4.
at first try, I don't even trust that I made it so I leave from it for a moment to rest a bit,eat some snacks and play it again.the resource still unbelievable!!.
