I think I overdid it with the EQ and took some of the meat away, so I reduced the EQ I had done, a better compromise, new mix with same link.

This is marvelous, beautiful, the best from the first mix and the second together! What a music, the notes AND the "players"...

  • Very nice. Sounds beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

May I ask: How did you achieve the walz rythm? (Tempo-Track?)

Thanks and my apologies for the delay bbelius.

Basically trying to find rhythmical variations of the 1-2-3- traditional waltz. with a nervous feel like, and now and then returning to the basic waltz rhythm. I didn't plan on any structure, it grew as the piece was evolving.

  • That is a very imaginative composition Guy, congratulations!

I'm updating the mix, with the addition of the 2nd violins.

    Capricious Waltz (Mix 3)

  • Hi Guy,

This is definitely the best mix. What a wonderful and rich piece of music. It's like a composition study starting with the elementary basics of a waltz and evolving to a full featured concert piece, through different styles and rhythmic  views, demonstrating orchestrating techniques and handling masterfully the instruments' articulations to a sublime height.

    Congratulations!

    Jos

  • Hi Guy,

I agree with Jos that this is the best mix. And do I hear it right, that the amelioration isn’t just the addition of the second violins?
I enjoyed hearing the piece again!

  • Thanks MMKA and Jos, glad you could hear the difference and in many levels. Now I could bringing it a notch higher with viola legatos.

What would the world be without legatos?

    Capricious Waltz (mix 5)

With the addition of the (legato) violas, I was able to complete the parts, also mics used closer.

  • At mix 5: A full live orchestra in all his power and glory. Where are all the "midi things", where are the 'troubles' with sampled music? Here the music has been risen far above all that stuff, it flies high above all this.

Herb and the whole team of VSL: you did it, making sampled intruments on a live level. Guy, you are a part of this all. I'm really impressed.

Thanks MMKA! Cool, I was also happy about mix 5.

    Appreciate your kind words!
