  • Where are my custom presets?

Hi - I have been searching the manuals and this Forum for help with a problem I am having, but the easy answer is hard to find!~

I created several custom presets (Beat Kaufmann basic presets for solo strings) in VI Pro Standalone 2.4.14074. When I did that, I named the preset but did not specify a folder name (because I haven't found the instructions on how to name the folder or where to put it), and the presets show up in the Preset list of VI Pro Standalone.  All good, so far!

In VE Pro 6.0.16502, when I call up an instance of VI Pro, I can't see my custom presets!

When I go into the VSL Custom Data folder, I see my presets, e.g. "Solo Cello Basic Preset.vipreset".

So, my question is why can't I see or get to these presets in a VI Pro instance within VE Pro?

Any help would be appreciated!  Thanks in advance!

  • Hi,

The Custom Data Folder path can be seen (and adapted) in your Directory Manager.

I'd install the latest VI PRO once again, if it doesn't work, please contact us with screenshots at support@vsl.co.at.

    Best,

  • Just a little experience from my own setting up of custom presets. I have been doing much of this lately and ultimately made a bit of a decision about VI presets within VEPro6.

To strart with I was customising presets in the VIPro environment and saving them there under a custom folder (as noted on this thread - seen in directory manager). Much of the changes I was making involved CC configuration and the odd crossfade to a new articulation, and doing one preset and section after another was extremely laborious.

Then I discovered that if I load VIPro presets into a VEPro6 instance tab and change them there en bloc (copy / paste / arrow keys and a bit of mouse clicking) it was all much quicker to achieve. Then rather than saving VIPro presets I saved the VEPro instance (after all that's where I want to use them ) and also as Cubase project to boot. I can recall my custom VIPro presets by opening the instance, and if I desperately want to still save the presets at VIPro level I can still do that from within VEPro.

Then again I come to similar issue - which is where to save the VEPro instances? I just chose a location on my projects drive for all things Vienna. I can't see where there is a preferred factory location for them.
