  • Hi Bernd,

You can put Vienna Ensemble or Vienna Instruments as Instrument Tracks, the Difference is when using the Player as Instrument Tracks it will be need more System Performance. I recommend put 3 Instances of Vienna Ensemble.

I made a Picture on How connect this, just create new Instrument Track choose the Vienna Ensemble and the Channel Number is important, I start at 2. So then the Instrument is connected to the Studio One Interface trough the Vienna Ensemble.

The Reason why I would recommend 3 Instances is because if youre want making a Template and use different Reverbsettings, it makes Sense to have then a Vienna Ensemble for Strings, 1 Instance for Woodwinds and 1 Instance for Brass Percussion.

    Bernd,

I'll assume you're very new to Studio One, just to be detailed in my instructions. Hopefully this helps.

In Studio One, add an instance of the Vienna Instruments plugin. Then right-click on the Mixer and click "Add FX Channel". There is an arrow in the middle of each channel strip to expand each channel. In the expanded view, you can use the "send" option to send the audio signal from VSL's plugin to the FX channel. I believe the only difference between FX and Bus is that FX stops the signal chain. Buses can be sent on to other buses (something I typically avoid myself). Honestly, the only way to get a feel for what will work for you is to try it. Like everything in life, it takes practice (aka: trial and error). So I hope these instructions are helpful, but you may have to get your hands pretty dirty to figure out what you like in the end.

Unfortunately music software has a much more confusing learning curve than the real world of the orchestra (IMHO). I'm working on taming that though. 😉

  • Hi Markus,

sorry for the late answer but on christmas time i am little busy with the bakery.

Thank you for your help. I am not a expert so sorry for the questions but i have not realy understand what is the benefit for using the Vienne ensemble. All the things can be done in studio one though. The general doing like you have described is now clear for me. Is there any capacity advantage? The paning and the reverb are set up in the Vienna ensemble too?

How is it to use the Mir Reverb? Can you recomend this additional too for the template?

I try to get better but the time to get on the pc and work doing the compositions are at the moment realy limited so if i get some tips will they help me for better doing. I know, theres no other way to pratice :-).

    Have a nice 2 Advent.

    Best regards Bernd

    Hi Sean,

thank you very much for your post. Now i think i understand better the difference between FX sends and Buses. You are totaly right , i am realy fresh working with audio software so is a little bit like the exploriation of America by the spains 😊

Expore the possibilities, regarding to this mission statement i try to practice but it can be possible that i have to ask again? 😉

    Best regards.

Hi Bernd, I tested this without Vienna Ensemble, using only the Vienna Instruments as Instrument Track, the System performance were much higher, so i would never be able to have 40 or more Instruments Tracks without the Vienna Ensemble. Im using MIRx because with this, i can focus full on composing which is my primary Goal. One Slider will set the Instruments in correct Panning and Space, how it could be easier than this. So I cant give any Idea on MIR Pro.

I mentioned the 3 Instances of Vienna Ensemble for each Section (Strings,Woodwinds,Brass-Percussion) because of the Idea creating Depth using different Reverb Settings and Early reflections. I struggled for last two years to get a good Panning Reverb Setup. The Results were not satisfied.

If you really want to start quickly then the MIRx Venues are the best Choice.

  • Hi again,

ok, i will test these procedure. maybe i come back again with some questions :-)

    Thank you very much.

  • Thank you for all your replies.

    Merry christmas.

  • and good New Year, If You have Questions may I can help.  Im using version 2, the 3 Version is not suitable for my Eyes and Fun ;)

  • a happy new year.

In the meantime i have startet to build a template. I choose, for ex. Violine 1 and drop this on a track in studio. Efter that many other instruments followed. I have grouped all strings (Vilones, Cellies,..) to one bus with name strings. On this bus i put a send to Vienna Mir pro 24 (my christmas gift :-)  )  for the reverb. i use one venue from the roompackage. Although i have othes busses for the percussion, woodwinds and brass. All crated in the same way.

Now i don´t know how i can set the right panning for ech instruments to get the original orchester setup. I have just startet to reas the MIR pro Manuel but that is a little bit confusing. It would be grat if someone can help me further.

    Best regards.

    Hi Musikkusgenerali13,

I just realized that I somehow missed this last question of yours. Sorry for that!  😳

I hope you were able to figure out what you're looking for, in the meantime? Positioning and stereo width etc. should be pretty straight-forward in MIR Pro, actually. 😊

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Dietz,

yes, i have managed to use the reverb and positioning in IR Pro 24. It sounds great but i am feeling a littkle bit unsecure in fact that i haven´t not understand all of the possibilities of MIR Pro 24 but i am working on this issue step by step.

For the first step i would like to say, that my question is solved.

    Best regards,
