Great News ! Synchron Strings I will be out in November. (Early, Mid, or Late Nov. ?)
The new Synchron Player should be very exciting, and wonderful to use for the Synchron Line. Would love to see the GUI, and control options, ..etc.
Also missing is info. regarding the size of the Standard and Full versions of Synchron Strings I , hopefully that will be posted in the near future.
I'm most likely going to go with the Full version, but would like to know how much SSD space it will occupy before Pre-Ordering it.
Also Curious to know if Synchron Strings II will be the Sordino versions ? and will there be Synchron Versions of all the current Strings i.e. Chamber Strings I, and II, Appassionata Strings, Solo Strings I and II, Dim-Strings I and II , ...also regarding Brass, and Woodwinds.
Does Synchron Strings I come with the entire string section (Violins 1&2, Violas, Celli and Basses), or just Violins & Cellos?
On the last frame of the promo video it says "Synchron Strings I (Violins & Cellos)", hopefully I'm not mistaken by the wording.
According to the product page : Quote "• 1st Violins, 2nd Violins, Violas, Cellos, Basses, recorded at their designated places on stage"
8 velocity layers (even for the legatos) sounds just great 😊. However, at least so far, there seems to be far less content compared to current Cube libraries. I have two questions:
- presently we have up to 5 standard note lengths: staccato, short detache, medium detache, long portato and sustained. In the new library there is apparently only: short, long portato and long. How do they relate?
- the new libraries include up to 10 variations. Does this mean these new patches include the previous repetition patches (where also the transitions between the notes are sampled), or is it merely 10 “independent” variations (instead of 4 presently)?
1) It would be nice to have seperate Informations about the Synchon-Strings-Project in general and what exactly is meant to be Sy-Str I.
2) Violins + Cellos
Acccrding to the last moment of the promovideo SyStrI seem to be only "Violins and Cellos"
As far they are recorded "in situ" this must mean Violins 1 and Violins 2
....... but does it likewise mean also Cellos 1 and 2 ?
3) Articulations
I always was very happy to have a good variety of diffferent "short articulations the announced Sample content now lists 4 types of large notes but only one type of short notes.
....Does the "short notes" of the Synchron Strings include spiccato, staccatos detaches etc?
While there are different types of sforzandos and Larger notes for instance with and without vibrato listed, how is it with the Synchron Legato.
....Is there only one kind of Legato recorded at all, or is iit it applyable on the different types of the sustains and sforzandos to get legatophrases with marcato accents and diferent amount of legato?
4) Sordino
There are no "sordino" articulations announced as they have been part of the orchestral strings.
... Would a full set of sordino articulation will make seperate libraries as it was with Solo, Chamber and dimension strings, or would it be in any way chose/applyable on the already listed articulations of Sx-Str.I?
5) section size
Former VSL-Libraries have been notably characterized with their specific section size (or 'sizeability' 😉 in the case of the dimension strings).
.. in which section sizes are the Sy-Str. I recorded? Are other Sectionsizes or/and Synchron Solo-Libraries intended?
6) Harmonics, Sul tasto, sul pont col legno, etc.
... will there be seperate Synchron-Libraries to come with Harmonics, Sul ponticello and sul tasto patches or perhaps be part of a sordino set? (However it would be great to have more compehensive Articulationtypes for Sul pont, sul Tasto and harmonics than we have had beffore and also the combinations of sul tasto + Sul pont + Harmonics with sordino and legatos)
7) Again the question for Superpackage-Users Early bird offer:
Why should I order the early bird offer, as Superpackage user, if the reduction as part of the Superpackage will be at least likewise 30 % ??? (You should think about to reward faithful "Superpackers" with additional reductions in the early bird days otherwise I can not see any reason why I should preorder anything, which will stay for me always at the same price)
However I am very excited to hear more datails about the Synchron-Player and its features....
"You can see the section size in the photographs..."
Should I count the players Could you see who is playing 1. Violin and who 2. Violin and if the Cellos are divided or not?
Those pictures might be very "informative", but I still would prefer to have the exact number of players per section.
"Sordino would naturally be in S Strings II"
And what will be Viola and Basses and the sordinos of Viola + Basses?
I still think here is "something" to make more clear especially for those who intend to buy something without exactly knowledge what is not included in this early bird offer.

You're right, it isn't clear at all. But I think they didn't include the violas and basses in the demo because they just haven't finished editing them. As mentioned above (in the product page quote), the Synchron Strings I will include ALL the strings.
I'm really hoping the Synchron trills are a step above Dimension Strings, those get really buggy at high speeds

oh wow, oh wow oh wow!
Too much excitement - will I be able to sleep the next week until they are availble? 8 velocity layers? Fantastic! plus variations with them.
Really looking forward to hearing the demo's.
all the best vsl with this.
Steve :-)

the trills sound choppy when played fast, the viola ones don't even work.
but yeah pre-recorded? why do you say? could be better
Owner of many VSL libraries, including Dimension Strings complete. I purchased that in the Pre-production as well. I haven't used any VSL strings for probably a year or more now, almost exclusively using Spitfire, so this is intriguing. My questions are the same as anyone else's:
Anyway, don't get me wrong, not being negative, just need a lot more information before purchasing. But overall I love VSL products. I use Mir Pro and Ensemble Pro and woodwinds every day. Have just found Spitfire strings to be so much warmer and more expressive, and easy to work with.
Best!

“I always was very happy to have a good variety of different short articulations the announced Sample content now lists 4 types of large notes but only one type of short notes.”
“- presently we have up to 5 standard note lengths: staccato, short detache, medium detache, long portato and sustained. In the new library there is apparently only: short, long portato and long. How do they relate?”
I'm only guessing here, but Synchron may be able to vary short sounds dynamically, depeding on how they're played -- or at least switch from short to long as the MIDI note and CC's dictate. Consider this from the announcement:
"New algorithms require a minimum of manual articulation switching."
New samples and platforms are exciting, but anything that relieves deep, datailed, endless keyswitching would be genuinely ground-breaking.
