  • Can't select Hor legato in Performance Tool

    I have Opus1 and have registered the performance tool but when I select "hor legato" from the pull-down menu it reverts back to "thru" and the performance tool does not work.

    Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Still looking forward to getting the performance tool to work!!!!

    Thanks,

    rgames

  • rgames, i've just sent you an email with a new response key that should work and enable hor-legato as expected
    christian

    and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Got it - the perf. tool now works.

    I can't get it to work with the Maple MIDI mapper, though. I can only get the perf. tool to work if I run the keyboard MIDI out directly in to the perf. tool, then to the sequencer, then to the sampler. In either the "live" or "standalone" mode, I get no input into Halion.

    Any thoughts on that problem?

    Thanks again,

  • Just as a better explanation of the last post:

    I have yet to make this combo work in any but the "live" setup where you port keyboard->perf. tool->Cubase->Halion3 VST.

    Whenever I try to port in the sequence
    keyboard->Cubase->perf. tool->Halion3 Stand Alone

    or

    keyboard->Cubase->perf. tool->Cubase->Halion3 VST

    I get no MIDI input into Halion. I've tried every combination of VSL router and Maple router ports and channels.

    Also, when I try to record using keyboard->perf. tool->Cubase->Halion3 VST I get a MIDI track with a bunch of notes all precisely on the first beat and nothing else.

    Hi rgames
    Check out this text. Have you done this step?
    Cubase Configuration

    For a one time configuration step, start Cubase and open the menu item of "Option | MIDI Setup | System...". In the "Input From" selection box, uncheck every one of the Maple Midi In ports. Press Exit.

  • Thanks for the feedback - I'll give that a shot.

    I figured out that as long as I open up the programs using the sequence perf. tool first, then Halion stand alone, then Cubase last it works out. If I open the programs in any other order I get no input into Halion no matter what combination of MIDI ports I use. ???

    I'm still having some trouble with Halion, though. It seems not to like having one instance of a VST and one standalone at the same time. It works OK for a while then starts to do strange things...

    Thanks again,

    Hi again
    Some more helps:
    * I always use HALion only as (a) VST-instrument(s)!

    * Check the home page of Tim Kiel. He wrote some tutorials "How to use Halion with "Perfomance Tool". Have a look at
    http://www.timkiel.com/music/tutorials/t1-vsl_halion.htm

    * Also VSL has written a tutorial. Have a look at
    http://www2.vsl.co.at/deutsch/Seiten/USER_AREA/Downloads/TOOLS.htm > Manual > and then "Performance Tool HORIZON"

    It's very difficult to be the doctor for your problem. There could be so much wrong as you can guess with my last answer in the upper topic. If you want, send me a screen-shot of "the wrong situation" to my mail-address. How to do a screen-shot?
    (Press "Prt Scr" > go to a graphic-program > insert the screen-shot by pressing "paste" > save the screenshot as a XXX.jpg - picture)

    And finaly a further possibility is to contact Bernd Mazzag at VSL
    b.mazagg@vsl.co.at
    He also helped me once to come clear with Cubase, HALion and the Perf.Tool.
    (Bernd, I hope I did nothing wrong by writing your name here).

  • Thanks Beat,

    I got the perf. tool working - my problems now reside in Halion. The VST and standalone version don't like to run at the same time, so I got another sound card to run Halion standalone on my other computer.

    As it turns out, Halion standalone is incompatible with a bunch of sound cards (see my post in the Halion forum here), including the one I bought [:@] .

    I'm getting the impression that Halion standalone right now is something of a Public Beta. It's not even mentioned anywhere in the manual and you can't even select outputs unless you download the patch! Guess I should have spent the money on Gigastudio - Halion doesn't seem to be a player in the standalone market (yet...)
