  • Vienna Choirs then :)

  • Don't forget every note is sampled in the full collections, and there are more velocity layers as well.  The extended libraries have all sorts of articulations that are not included in any of the SE collections.

Also, your purchase price of any of the extended libraries will be discounted to reflect samples already purchased.  Granted, those discounts are not very large, but then the number of samples of any given instrument in SE are not that great compared to the standard/extended collections.

  • Unfortunately, when it comes to upgrading the download instruments are pretty much a dead end.

There is just no acceptable way to upgrade them to the dvd collections.

  • I have QL S choir[;)]

  • If you don't hear the difference between SE and the full DVD versions, you will never be able to justify the investment.

Agreed, the upgrade from the downloadables to the DVD are not an attractive offer. But the free extended makes the current holiday offer a great value.

If I want to get the Brass bundle, have to pay 960 euro I save 53 Euro so I gain 5.5 %, this is peanuts given to the monkey [:P]

  • Hi Cyril,

I just looked you up in our records - with your registered Single Instrument Downloads, the EUR 53 that you mentioned is not the upgrade discount that you receive - it's the final upgrade price on the Brass Bundle Extended Library!! Your upgrade discount is in fact EUR 1,037 (because you've got so many Single Instrument Downloads).

So if you decide to purchase our Brass Bundle Full Library, your price is only EUR 1,013 instead of the regular price of EUR 2,390 (without bundle discount). That's a total discount of EUR 1,377! All these discounts and upgrade prices are shown to you directly on the product webpage, if you're logged in. And best of all: with our holiday offer, you'll get a FREE Extended Library on top! You may need to purchase another DVD Standard Library though to ensure the best use of your free Extended Library.

Please consider to contact us directly at , before announcing publicly in our forum that you find an offer to be "no good".

    Thanks,

    Stefan

  • Hello Stefan

I may have misunderstood, correct me if I am wrong.

If in March 2011 I buy the Brass Bundle Full Library + Brass Bundle Extended Library I will pay 1013 euro because I have bought SE, SE + and all the downloaded instrument

If I buy it with the Xmass discount I will pay 960 euro

    Best

  • Hi Cyril,

    That's correct.

That's not correct, because the Brass Bundle is a bundle, and therefore you can't get the whole Bundle Extended Library for free - only ONE Extended Library of a single DVD Collection. The Brass Bundle consists of three DVD Collections.

However: As you may see, using your free Extended Library on a DVD Collection where you almost don't have to pay anything for it might not be the best idea. That's why I wrote in my earlier post that you may want to purchase another DVD Standard Library to apply the free Extended Library to, to get the most out of this offer! I'd recommmend one of our String DVD Collections... maybe Orchestral Strings I Standard Library? This would get you a rather expensive Extended Library (Orchestral Strings I, EUR 465) for free.

It all depends on how you apply our special offers, in the end. :-)

    Regards,

    Stefan

  • The thing is i assume, that people tend not to buy download instruments when they are not interested in them. The Holiday offer is mostly good for instruments, of which people don't have download instruments. So those people can only take advantage of the offer, with instruments they don't want or need anyway.

Let's take me for example. I am only interested in the Woodwinds DVD Collection. I already have all the solo instruments.

I can buy the standard edition 425€ and get the extended edition for free, meaning i get no discount for my previous purchases.

I am not really interested in the extended articulations, though. I'd only like the additional velocity layers and chromatic sampling of the standard dvd collection. So, no discount for me.

The reduced velocity layer count and missing chromatic sampling for the download instruments not being advertised on the website, combined with the missing upgrade path for downloadable instruments is why i call upgrading them a dead-end.

In my opinion, VSL should enhance the downloadable instruments to have the same amount of velocity layers and chromatic sampling as their corresponding DVD editions. This would make them more attractive and also would result in a fairer upgrade path(though i would still not call it good)

  • These sort of questions seem to pop up every time VSL offer time limited discounts. some people always feel they are loosing out to others depending on what previous products they have bought and consequently how upgrade pricing interacts with offer pricing.

Maybe a more democratic offer would be a time limited discount across the check-out prices. So for those upgrading they would still get the full value of their "upgrade price" plus for new entrants there is a straight holiday discount. I guess this would have to be at a lower level than the equivalent (buy a DVD library and get the extended free) but at least it would stop all these similar threads every discount season!!

I have Appassionata and the strings of SE plus !

You have to rewew the discout you get when you own already articulations for an Instrument

In most the case the articulation you already own are in the DVD standard, so you pay the twice the articulation ;o(

It will much more attractive for your clients, and much more faithful, to put de reduction on the DVD of the instrument

If the instrument is in the standard you get deduction in the standard DVD, if it is in the extended you put the deduction on the extended DVD

Also one little problem is you cannot split the SE plus across servers

    Best
