The thing is i assume, that people tend not to buy download instruments when they are not interested in them. The Holiday offer is mostly good for instruments, of which people don't have download instruments. So those people can only take advantage of the offer, with instruments they don't want or need anyway.
Let's take me for example. I am only interested in the Woodwinds DVD Collection. I already have all the solo instruments.
I can buy the standard edition 425€ and get the extended edition for free, meaning i get no discount for my previous purchases.
I am not really interested in the extended articulations, though. I'd only like the additional velocity layers and chromatic sampling of the standard dvd collection. So, no discount for me.
The reduced velocity layer count and missing chromatic sampling for the download instruments not being advertised on the website, combined with the missing upgrade path for downloadable instruments is why i call upgrading them a dead-end.
In my opinion, VSL should enhance the downloadable instruments to have the same amount of velocity layers and chromatic sampling as their corresponding DVD editions. This would make them more attractive and also would result in a fairer upgrade path(though i would still not call it good)
