  • More Syncorsoft problems!!!!!

    Hi there,

Just got my ext codes for the last 5 titles and on my one of my PC's (holding the perc library) - DL the given VSL code I get the following error message in SLCC.

Device Nbr (gives my key number) has not sufficient memory License "Collection (Vienna Instruments, Percussion)" can be moved to this device

The error message tells me to 'empty the trashbin and try again' (I have emtied both the SLCC and PC trashbins - no change

    Inside the SLCC it shows

    Collection

    -VI
    -Percussion

    (Upgrade) (Master) Collection

    -VI
    -Percussion
    -Percucssion L2

    What is this:

    (Upgrade) (Master) Collection

    -VI
    -Percussion
    -Percucssion L2

    Is the lic already DL????

    Can someone help. [:'(]

  • rob, is this by chance your key with the *low number* resp. a non-ViennaKey? older syncrosoft keys have limited space to store licenses.

upgrade master means your standard library license gets updated to a standard+extended. it looks this process fails because of insufficient space.

    please try the following steps:
    1) attach this problematic key and a ViennaKey to a computer with internet connection and a current license control center installed
    2) transfer your percussion standard license to the ViennaKey
    3) re-initiate the download of the extended license to the ViennaKey (during this process the wording *upgrade* should appear in the dialog)
    4) finally you should have a master license (standard and extended) on the ViennaKey and the pending license transfer should have disappeared.

in case it doesn't work that way please email support@vsl.co.at mentioning the number of the problematic key - we will send you a code to erase the pending license transfer.

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Went to a second PC to register the WW's ext codes (this PC has same SCLL installer - 5.0.0.1 as PC having problems)

On this WW PC - absolutely no problems registering and DL lic for ext codes for WW's.

Should I 'start over' with problem DL of lic???? Don't want to cause even more problems.

  • Hi Christian,

Yes this PC is my Main PC. It has SX running on it (the only other Lic on that key - aside from the perc)

Would it load up after only that many lic????

I do have a spare key I bought from Ilio. Can you tell me the steps to transfer both SX and VI perc to one of your keys - if that is the solution.

    Many thanks

    Rob

  • ehhm - please see my posting above .... just transfer the SX license too repeating step 2) for SX to avoid having 2 keys on one computer. (newer steinberg keys would have already more space available)

  • Hi Christian,

One more quick question. I assume I have to 'register' this new key I now have on order from Ilio?

And then from there do the steps above.

    Rob

  • rob, if you ever run in troubles with VI licenses it helps really much to know your key number(s). i'm thinking here especially on loss and damage.

You got it Christian - when I get the new key to replace the SX key - I'll register it on your site. Thanks.

    Hi Christian,

Been on the road for a week and just getting to this.

I have done exactly as you say and get the following message

"The Upgrade License was successfully downloaded and the upgrade carried out.

The used activation code is now invalid and can no longer be used."

What does this mean? To I need your unlocking code?

I noticed that the 'upgrade' to L2 Percussion still shows.

Thanks for you help on this.

    Rob

  • Hi Rob.

"The Upgrade License was successfully downloaded and the upgrade carried out.

The used activation code is now invalid and can no longer be used."

This simply means that the code you entered for your Extended or Standard was successful and that you don't need those codes for that volume since it's now licensed.

In other words, you did everything right! [:)]

Thanks Austin. I still see the 'upgrade' description on the SLCC. I assume that is the way it should be?

  • Christian,

    I think I still have a problem.

As directed I have ordered a new VI key and transferred the perc and SX lic's to it successfully.

The Perc L2 is still showing (upgrade) (master) Collection on the old key (i previously tried to install it on - could not becuase of that key's capacitiy).

Anyway - when I try to trasfer this lic (L2) it is 'greyed out' and will not allow to transfer as I have done with the std Perc library and the SX.???

Can you please help - I also show my Perc running in DEMO mode still.

    Rob

  • Hey Rob. Sorry to hear your still having trouble. Have you updated to the latest LCC version 5.0.2.4?

Another suggestion is to take "snapshots" of what is going wrong and email support@vsl.co.at describing the problem. Sometimes pictures speak more than words.

I hope you get good to go soon enough!

  • Paul and/or Christian,

I have sent private emails and have not heard back from you. I really want to get this issue of LCC settled. [:'(]

Paul - in you email to me you said...

Please try to download the Extended Library of the Percussion VI once again, if that doesn´t work, you´ll need the codes to erase the license (from 288542 - press F8 in the LCC).

We believe that your code is still valid after that, if not, please inform me, so that we can fix that!

    Best regards,

    Paul Steinbauer
    Vienna Symphonic Library

When I start up LCC - it tells me that the 'the license transfer was interupted--start it up again and complete...'

It then takes me to the LCC page showing both keys (the older key now only has the (Upgrade)(Master) collection on it.

As you suggest I tried to DL again and it brings me to the 'transfer' license page.

Two options are available - 'continue transfer' or 'new transfer'. I have pushed 'continue transfer' - STILL GET THE SAME MESSAGE (successful transfer BUT I still show the upgrade master on the old key.) I don't believe this has taken.

Please help me resolved this as I have spent way too much time to hassle with this.

Also, I would suggest for the benefit all those who have an older Cubase LCC key NOT TO USE THAT. It will not hold more than two licenses on it! (which seems quite odd).

Thanks Paul and Christian for helping on this (sending me the unlocking code, erase what I have so I can register it again, etc. - whatever gets the job done.)

--copy protection is needed BUT such a waste of time [8o|]

  • Rob,

I've had problems very, very similar to you. I would agree that VSL need to change their advice on the use of old Steinberg keys ... they will not hold more than two licences ... and once full, set the scene for a complex "download interrupted" situation to occur.

    I had the problems of ;

    - 1 first not enough room on my old key,
    - 2 then difficulty moving my L2 solo strings to my new key (becuase of interrupted transfer)
    - 3 getting rid of the darn "interrupted message".

    solution that worked for me;

    - 1 buy a new key
    - 2 transfer everything I could from old key to new key
    - 3 empty trash on old key, so enough room to finish L2 download
    - 4 on old key ... use download wizard ... do NOT try to continue old transfer, start a new one to finish L2 download. This did work for me, and I was a bit surprised that it did.
    - 5 once all keys are moved to new vienna, unplug old key.
    - 6 If you still get the "interrupted warning" try the following, which was sent by Paul at VSL ...

"we just received some information from Syncrosoft and these are the steps that will hopefully make everything work (Syncrosoft can recheck everything this way):

#1 Please send the support informations to the Syncrosoft server (Support=>Send support information)

#2 Please save the support log on a safe place (Support=>save support file)

#3 Erase the content of C:\\Program Files\\Syncrosoft\\LCC\\Logs and try again

If that still doesn´t work, please send the support file (#2) to support@syncrosoft.com"

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi Rob,

just wanted to reconfirm that with Syncrosoft, and they agree that this is the right procedure. Please let me know how it worked out.

    Best,

Thanks Drew - Your steps 1-6 didn't seem to do it for me. But as soon as I sent the log to SLCC and then trashed the logs and tried it again - it worked!!!!!

    Thanks so much again.

Buyer beware - if you are using a SX dongle - buy another one from VSL - save yourself unneccesary headaches [[;)]]

  • Hi Rob,

    great!

The capacity of the Syncrosoft keys depends on their age, the older the key, the less capacity. New SX Keys can of course hold more licenses.

  • Yea, I think my SX key is at least 3 years old. Thanks for your help Paul.
