  • Is that supposed to be sarcasm Evan? I can never tell with you.

  • i wonder how do you make the difference between a student and a normal customer ?

  • They check your student ID or you have to give other proof of enrollment like a registration form.

    No ... sympathy.

    Evan Evans

  • Hi, Sabine, can you or anyone tell me if the first edition offered as a discount is also including the first edition's performance set?

    Thks,

    Iván

  • ... I forgot to ask too... can the discount also be applied only to the 1st ed performance set? Since I own Opus 1, I also own most of the samples, though not cromatically sampled... and my budget is getting too tight [;)]

    Thks again,

    Iván.

  • Iván,
the offer refers to the First Edition COMPLETE ORCHESTRAL PACKAGE (which includes the Performance Set) only.
    all the best,

    Wow, great!
Is there any possibility to get a discount going from Opus1 to First (student) edition?

Maybe I'm just too excited to see straight, but I did not see this question answered. I am very interested, as I just bought Opus 1 this past August due mainly to the fact that illo told me that "we do offer student pricing on our sample packages, and thats why we created Opus 1 for this market. Check with local music stores to see if they offer any discounts" to which I went ahead and bought Opus 1 from Alexander University Inc.

You can see why my heart broke when I saw this deal, for I JUST purchased Opus 1 two months ago, and had I known, would have instead held off for this student first promotion.

Thus I'm wondering, is there anyway to upgrade into this deal from Opus 1? Does your VIP policy of "not paying for the same samples twice" apply in this situation, as the price of Opus 1 DOES already apply to a normal upgrade to First Edition?

Thank you in advance for your understanding and reply. Even though I'm a new user, I LOVE VSL and hope to be a continued proud promoter of your sample packages at CSUN, especially this wonderful "student first" deal! [:D]

  • I perfectly understand your thoughts. Still I'd like to point out two things:
    1. There has never been any upgrade path from Opus 1 to the First Edition. We'll keep it that way. When you upgrade from Opus 1 to the Pro Edition, the full price of Opus 1 is credited.
    2. This First Edition Student promotion offers the Complete Orchestral Package at a way discounted price, so even if there was an upgrade path from Opus 1 to the First Edition, we couldn't allow for both at the same time, 50 % discount AND upgrade discount.

So, I'm sorry to say, and to answer the original question, there is no discount in this case.

    All the best, Martin

  • Why does everyone have to be having sales when I have no money? Will you be having a sale like this in a year or so? Cause I was thinking about getting Opus sometime with in a year (basically whenever I have enough money to do so), but if there would be another sale any time soon, I'd try to wait for that.

  • Dear tgfoo,

Sales are never planned in advance. But saving for Opus 1 is worth it [:D]

    All the best, Anna

  • Some of the Users asked us to extend the Students First Sale: we have fullfilled your wish and you have another 2 weeks for ordering. (Maybe somebody finds a good Santa who is already busy in November :wink[:)]

    All the best,
    Anna

  • I *really* wish you'd offer a student discount on Opus 1. Credit only half the price of Opus 1 toward the Pro Edition, if you want. But how many students can fork over more than $1000? Why should they when they can get EW QLSO Silver (comparable to Opus 1) for $300?

You really think the two libraries are comparable? [*-)]
25 GB versus (as far as I know) 2 GB.
Opus1 is surely fair priced for what you get.
    Cheers,
    Sabine

  • Well, size isn't everything. The point is the versatility. Maybe you should make a 2.4 GB library then. Either way, I don't think many actual students are helped by this program.

  • Dear VSL family...

I already e-mailed you but I just want to ask again here...

Could you give us(me and my friend) one more chance to buy you library?

The student discount is the only way to get your library for us poor student...

Please, give us one more chance...

    Thank you...

    TJ...

  • Kevin,
saw your posting only now, after answering your email.
