I converted all performance-legatos, staccs and 0.3-0.5 short notes as well as most of the dynamics to Kontakt. Some didn't convert well with current CDXtract, but Kontakt 1.21 imported the whole rest flawlessly and generally BETTER that CDXtract, to my suprise. I generated multi-velocity-Xfade/swtich-layers by combining instruments on identical MIDI-channels. Works amazing, easy to create. Within Logic, I was able to set it up to work with the Giga-Perf-Tool via local pipes (search forum for details) and even tricked in my environment to automate ghost-switching for the transitions between articulations. Now I simply PLAY legato/portamento/dynamics/shortnotes etc. and nail lines and phrases down in realtime. This is like heaven for me. Lines that sound perfectly nice right from the scratch. To me this is the ultimate sampling-experience.
Kontakt streaming has been improved a lot. Due to the separate buffers for samples and voices, I managed to load MUCH MORE than using GS 2.5 (sample buffer to 72k, voice-buffer to 480k, polyphony to taste). I don't need more than 64 voices for full orchestral arrangements, btw. VSL is a polyphony saver compared to GOS.
That's what I found out
