  • oh you mean a breath noise while sustaining sample, not a breathing before note sample

then yah, it would be great [:)] I've always wanted stuff like this actually

  • Herb ... what do you think about it ? [:)]

  • Breathing between notes (phrases) can be important to achieve realism. (Depending on the orchestration and size of the orchestra)
If you are playing with the performance legati, a breath could be inserted, when the tool is triggering a new starting note.

Depth and length of the breath should refer to the pause duration, also simply how much time has the player to breath. Then how long the legato line before was and of course after the pause would be, and which dynamic level is played.

I would say, too complex for a live automatisation. But possible if the tool could analyse a played passage and make afterwards automically adjustments. But that's a complete different story. [[;)]]

    OUT OF TOPIC

After playing a concert a lady came and did ask" you seam to never take a breath when you play, how you do this" My answer:" Oh no problem once in the morning is enough for me... [8-)]

Why do not write about wind controler.... [*-)]:

  • Herb,

Sy may be refferring to the "noise" created by air passing through the instrument or over it, the "air" passing through the instrument, not the fundamental note/tone.

similar to the idea of bow noise/rosin without the fundamental.

  • Hi Herb,

My idea was about layering some breath with the actualy sound. Maybe you can record some breath with nose, some with mouth, [...] just to add more realism in an intimate production. If you do this, I can program a CAL program for Cakewalk Pro Audio / Sonar to add some breath in front of some notes. I will think about it when I will have some time to me [:D]

So, what do you think about it ?

    Thank you,

  • We have planned to record some breathing. We are just finishing the recordings for the Pro Edition, so afterwards our recording team could focus a little on such things.

  • Herb, while you're at it, don't forget the coughing, and the turning of the page....

I'm not even sure myself whether this is a serious post! [[;)]]

    Nigel

  • It's a serious post [[;)]]

It could be interesting to add some breathing in a solo flute musical work ... not for big orchestra, of course [:)]

  • Actually, cracking chair noise (like for solo cello) and orchestra audience ambiences could be interesting if one wants to add a notch of realism...

  • ... if i can make a wish: i'd love to get the thonet-sound http://www.my-thonet.de/en/214.shtml">http://www.my-thonet.de/en/214.shtml [;)]
    christian

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • For even more realism, you might want to add the sound of alcohol being sipped through a straw....... [+o(]

Perhaps even snoring from the back row of the audience?
