  • Tonguing Tool?

I've finally had a chance to really delve into the brass section of the library more deeply. First off, I want to say that these brass musicians are absolutely outstanding! Having played tuba for two decades, I really appreciated the excellence of the low brass in particular.

But back to my main point. While playing with the tuba grace-leg patch, I noticed that the effect (especially with minor 3rd skips) was similar to the player tonguing between notes. I was wondering if this was worth pursuing - the equivalent of the legato tool for the wind instruments but with normal or legato tonguing instead of sluring. I think this would be preferable to a series of individual short samples in a tongued passage - the note transistions would be more natural.

    Thoughts?

  • We've recorded this stuff for the solobrass instruments. Playing all intervallsteps up to an octave with seperate attacks (tonguing).

We start now the pendants for the strings (with detache and spiccato bowings) and of course brass ensembles and woodwinds.

This stuff is planned for the symphonic cube.

    best wishes
