  • FORUM SOFTWARE TRANSITION

Dear Valued Contributors and Readers of our Forum,

We’d like to inform you that we’ll switch to a new forum software this Sunday, Sept. 16. During the time of the move, the forum will be in read-only mode. Also, we kindly ask you to excuse minor interruptions or offline periods in case they occur.

After the move, most of the login data of our User Area and our Forum will be synchronized. You will be able to log in to all of the services on our website using one set of access data. All forum nicknames will be kept, but you’ll need to log in with your e-mail address instead of your nickname, and you’ll have to reset your password before you can log in.

All other registered users who haven’t been members of our forum as of yet will be automatically given the nickname “first-part-of-email-
    address+UserID”, e.g., johndoe123. If you’re not happy with this,
please request a change of your nickname at community@vsl.co.at next week.

Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to your future contributions on our revamped forum!

Your Vienna Symphonic Library IT Team

you noticed it already ... we're up again - at least with the forum ..

step by step you will be introduced to a series of new features.

so far regarding accounts and login:
    - users from the user area not having joined the forum login with their registered email and password (nothing changes), a nickname has been added (first part of email + userID)
    - users from the forum we found in our user area database shiuld be able to login with their email and password from the user area, rheir neichname from the forum should show up
    - users registered with different emails might now have two accounts which habe to be merged manually, please contact community@vsl.co.at for help ... and be patient with us ;-)

the search option will possibly need some days until everything is indexed and the results are convincing.

    welcome back everybody, christian

  • Hi CM, You've been busy bees! any chance of a link back to the main forum message list from the indvidual thread page like there used to be? Maybe I'm missing something but I can only see message forward or backward so currently using the menu link at the top of the page but this only goes to "forums" Thanks Julian

  • Darn yes it is there just the greyed out typeface meant I couldn't see it for looking! Julian

Yes, and I instantly miss the little menu to jump to another forum.

Who am I ...  who am I ... to be or not to be.... yes, I want to be merged, please ... sounds really promising .... whom will I become .... oh, I'm so excited...

  • Is there and eta on then the site will be fully functional again? Not binding, just today, tomorrow, etc.

Especially the new video tutorials. Tantalising stuff.

  •  The cookie doesn't seem to work properly. Every time I go to the forum *all* thread are marked as new.

  •  When I try to edit my recent post I get:

    Oops something went wrong!

Either the site is offline or an unhandled error occurred. We apologize and have logged the error. Please try your request again or if you know who your site administrator is let them know too."

(edited on safari by cm for test)

  • i noticed some html tags with an id have been in your post which i have removed ... i can edit on all browsers and all systems ... ok, i've not tested opera ....

your cookies might be damaged .. i heard from a safari user this morning that after deleting the cookie(s) verything was fine again (clear chache also helps)

    (double check editing post)

  •  Editing works now again for me. I deleted all VSL cookies and see later if it helped for the "marked as new" thing.

  • thanks for the notice ... accounts merged (a bug showed up not adding the number of posts from both accounts, will be fixed)

  • The 'edit tags' link seems hideously broken, at least on Firefox 2.

When I click it, it creates a text input box at the bottom margin of the browser window, but only the top portion of the box is visible, and there are no controls or labels visible. I can't scroll the area that includes this box, and if I try to resize the browser window to make more of it visible, it promptly vanishes.

Meanwhile, as I edit this post, I clicked on 'Select Tags...', and this created a pseudo-pop-up box with black text on a midnight-blue background, which is a bit too unreadable for my poor human vision.

    Oo-er!

So, I put 'forum problem tagging' in the Tags input box, thinking that it would work like del.icio.us, where each word becomes a separate tag. However, the forum appears to have treated the whole input line as a single tag, which looks stupid as forum problem tagging . And I find I can't fix this, because '[Edit tags]' gives me a text input box that thwarts all my attempts at editing it, while 'Edit' on the post leads to an Oops server error message.

So, can some kind system administrative elf please fix my post by either deleting the tag, or converting it into three, as I intended? Thanks.

Meanwhile, what is supposed to be the way to enter multiple tags? Separated by commas? Quoted?

It's not a bug, it's a feature [;)]. This way it is possible to make multi word tags. To separate the tags, please use a comma between the words.
