  • Thanks Evan, I appreciate your thread and see now your particular reference to Pro owners.

So Herb, if I had bought OPUS 1 first and wanted to upgrade to the Pro Cube (without the Performance set), what's my VIP price for the upgrade?

  • You know, what a shame that a company that is so generous and open with its customers is rewarded for that generosity by nothing but this bickering over what you didn't get. Everybody, in every product industry, sooner or later is faced with something better or cheaper coming out for sale in the future. Most of the time you're SOL. But the more VSL gives you, the more you want. Rather than be happy they came up with an affordable solution for people, you just care that you didn't get it too. Well you should have waited like many of us did. Sorry, but I have no sympathy, most especially since Herb promised to put most of the instruments in Opus 1 not found in the First Edition on the update DVD. You're getting more than you should be asking for.

  • I hope this doesn't turn into another Platinum vs. Gold vs. Silver thread. [*-)]

I have to say I'm more than a little sympathetic.

Without wishing to appear ungrateful for the free DVD, I'm a also little disappointed but for different reasons. I own the 1st Edition Performance set, I can't justify the cost of the 1st Edition Cube at the moment. Opus 1 seems like the ideal solution except I already own 40% of the samples included and yet still have to pay full price. I thought VSL had a policy of not paying for a sample twice? I hope I'm missing something.

I hope this doesn't turn into another PETER0302 thread!

Honestly, we are the pioneers giving VSL the word, the bug reports, and the suggestions. Were not complaing, ... were helping!

Peter0302, maybe instead of being placated you could come up with some constructive suggestions too. Otherwise, let us be.

    Thank you,
    Evan Evans

Hey Peter0203, the free DVD is for 1st Edtion users only, not for Pro Owners.
The $3000 Pro Edition is supposed to be the complete orchestra but does not include the solo viola or bass which is included in the $900 Opus 1.

  • duoartc, Opus 1 does not include any solo strings. Those need to be purchased seperately.

  • Not to be contrary, but I like some Peter0302 threads.

  • Polar Bear. yes you are right. My mistake. Apologies.

I have an open mind. Point me to a couple.

    Thanks,

  • Huh?

I think I am starting to get it. The only real complaint a First Edition owner should have is if they bought either the Orchestral Cube or Performance Set and not both. Otherwise everything in Opus 1 will be in the Complete Orchestral Package + Free Update.

Therefore I propose that if you own either the Orchestral Cube or the Performance Set, you should get Opus 1 for 50% off. If you own both, you shouldn't need anything extra.

Whoa, Peter0302. Now it's becoming obvious you don't know what you get in the First Edition. No, there are a plethora of performance instruments in the OPUS 1 that a First Edtion owner +Update would never have. And good stuff too.

You are really missing it. But don't worry. It's not your fight. But if you are curious, check out the different lists and see the differences between the two and subtract what was promised on the update DVDs. You'll see that there is some great value in teh OPUS 1 even for First Edition owners.

Ok, I had asked whether that was true earlier and no one answered, and so my quick look made me think that the DVD upgrade would have everything. If you could illustrate some of the things that we future Opus 1 owners will be getting that First Edition owners won't, that might help the rest of us understand where you're coming from.

  • English horn, Contrabass tuba, Piccolo (perf-legato) some Percussion instruments and some more...(if I´m not wrong)

    Thanks,

So Peter0302, now what do you think about that as you discover what OPUS 1 can give a First Edition owner, who in some cases may have spent all they had on the first edition, but must spend $2100 plus shipping to get the Pro, and/or is offered no discount on the less expensive but in some cases just as useful-wonderful OPUS 1 which costs albeit a more affordable $990, but is only sought after by 1st Ed. owners for the 25% of extra useful instruments they don't already have? Don't you think they should be given an opportunity to be refunded for the samples they would have bought twice? Don't you think there ought to be a VIP price to purchase OPUS 1?

  • I cross checked the list and there are a few. Alright, it is indeed strange, then. I'm not sure I understand the "this is a subset of the pro edition not the first edition" logic. I don't understand their opposition to making Opus 1 available at a heavy discount to current first ed. owners. If they did that would that make you happy?

  • Hey Evan,

I would be certainly interested in this as well (owner of 1st Edition cube and perf set). Thanks
