Hello friends,
I would like to hear any and all opinions regarding my dilemma; every cent counts! [:)]
I'm running Logic Plat. on a 3 card HD rig, and was considering the EXS version of VSL. However, numerous composer friends had stated that the only way to achieve the massive "Star Wars" type orchestrations that I'm after would be using several dedicated Giga PC's. They further noted that any attempt to use my host mac (dual 1.25) for that purpose would be rather futile.
Film composers: would you agree? Are multiple Giga machines inevitable?
If so - which PC's are ideal for that purpose, and how many? Would a single, dedicated G5 work instead?
Furthermore - where do you get stopped when using an inadequate amount of machines? Polyphony, CPU power, RAM, all of the above?
What is the ULTIMATE VSL rig?
Thanks and best regards,
- Ido
