A second Baroque music demo programmed by Beat Kaufmann is now online in our "Classic" demo section.
J.S.Bach "Prelude from Partita in E"
orchestrated by Riccardo Pick Mangiagalli
http://vsl.co.at/demo_classic?DP_ObergruppeID=6;DP_GruppeID=35&cmslang=englisch
Both Baroque demos (Handel and Bach) are very good examples for the Pro Edition String Cube.
No performance set material was used.
Furthermore everything was programmed using a Halion sampler.
Beat Kaufmann on "Prelude from Partita in E":
J.S. Bach (1685-1750): Prelude from Partita in E major for solo violin, BWV1006 - arranged for string orchestra by Riccardo Pick Mangiagalli (1882-1949). The Pick-Mangiagalli version of the Preludio from the third violin partita amplifies the dynamics and sonority of Bach's original while retaining its simple, direct spirit.
Some technical notes:
The solo violin plays in unison with the ensemble-violins. The result is a very lively orchestra-sound. I used the Logic exciter-effect for cellos an basses, because I love the "string- and bow-noise" in low registers. For the final mix the very low frequencies are enhanced by a multicompressor (65Hz, Ratio=1.5, +3dB). Reverb: "Small Soft Hall - 2s natural" from Samplitude.
