  • Apple UK Stink on Ice!

Just basically a friendly announcement that may or may not be of interest, especially to forum members in the UK. Apple UK -

    STINK ON F***ING ICE!

Apple UK have absolutely no idea about customer service or customer care and basically follow the Apple Corporate Crap line. The staff have no idea about sales and are just order takers.

If you wish to purchase an Apple computer, then I suggest a good third party retailer. In other words, cut Apple UK out of the loop and flush them down the bog.

This is just my opinion of course, but Apple UK suck to high heaven and their staff embroider the truth through their back teeth.

    That is all.

    Many thanks.

    [:D]

  • Absolutely - nothing but trouble!!

I always go with Jigsaw now - www.jigsaw24.com

Never had a problem with them

Once spent 2 months trouble shooting with Apple UK customer services - several dozen premium rate phone calls later - still no luck!!

Love the product but the service sucks!!

  • Although not as gifted as Paul in the expressive use of the English Language (Only kidding Paul), I have to agree with this.

The experience of dealing with a consistently ill informed, lazy, undignified, unhelpful, uninterested, unintelligent, dispassionate, self interested, egotistical group of people in a lifetime is hard enough, and keeping your composure under these circumstances is difficult for any sane, normal, and polite human being.

To deal with Apple UK is pushing the extremes of sanity, despair, frustration, and a number of other human characteristics we presume to be civilised.

To those who would say I need proof of this incompetence, I can supply it by quantity. You'll need a truck to carry it though!

Cheer up Paul, you're not on your own.

On the brighter side, at least you can enjoy the prompt, thoughtful service here!

    Regards,
    A fellow UK Apple victim.

And THAT is giving that lot in Ireland the benefit of the doubt Alex! There's a misnoma straight away - Apple UK - IN Ireland! Joke!

This particular incident today is actually beyond belief - even more so because the computer isn't even for me and not in any way related to music. However - there are many very talented professional and amateur musicians on this board that MAY be thinking about purchasing an Apple for their work.

Like Joseph says - great product - but you have to weigh that against where you purchase - or try to purchase it in the first place. Jigsaw has a good reputation and ironically I bought my G5 from TSC, who were really helpful and fiendly and there were no problems. For this one, I just thought Apple UK would be fine, never having dealt with them before. That was a genius move on my part. [:O]ops:

I appreciate that when we buy things, now and again there are snags and that's more or less acceptable, but this was absolutely unprecedented in my book with Apple UK. Never known anything like it in my lifetime.

Apple UK are total shit! They should be shut down. They are a fiasco.

  • I'm so spoiled, being ADCT and APCT I never have to deal with tier 1 tech support [:D]

  • CM,
I'll put this delicately as possible.

    What's ADCT and APCT?

I'm hoping it's not some new street slang for ...erm..you know.....orientation?

  • Dear forum members -

I know how good it is to let some air ventilate, especially when it comes to computer-related frustrations, but please: take this topic into private communication.

Thanks a lot for your understanding.

    All the best,

  • You're right Dietz.

This isn't the place, even if using computers and companies can elicit....passionate responses. (Including my own.)

  • Well, I'm sorry but I don't agree, even though I defer to the fact that this is the VSL forum.

In my view, this should be made a Sticky.

Surely the point of a music forum is to give other users information. Information about samples, reverbs, production techniques, products and why you do or don't like them etc.

So surely that would include computers and how to save yourself a lot of time and grief - IF you are thinking about buying a Mac and dealing with Apple UK. That is just normal forum information in my view.

There's nothing at all wrong with Mac computers - I use one - the issue is with lameass telephone sales/target driven wankers that will waste your time when you could easily go to a retailer, as has already been mentioned.

Compared to some of the issues I've read on this forum over the past few years. this is surely fairly useful information and really quite tame.

  • I absolutely agree with Paul on this one. Try running VSL libraries without a computer:you won't get very far. Computer information, the pluses and minuses, are inextricable from the the VSL (or other computer based libraries) and invaluable to both existing and prospective users.

I can't believe that will be a problem. The problem as I see it, with Apple, is specifically the Apple UK sales desk.

Also, be very, very wary of Logic 7.1 - apparently it's still full of bugs and Apple don't seem very forthcoming fixing these problems.

Emagic would have sorted this out almost immediately. They're computers (Apple) are good - no question, but they are a fledgeling in the pro music
    software business at this point.

  • Paul and others have obviously had difficulties with Apple's UK Store and I've also read a number of posts in other Mac forums complaining about Apple's poor customer care and service. I guess you only hear about the situations where things have gone wrong (and they will when you run such a massive company), but it still had me worried when the backlight went on my six month old Powerbook and I couldn't see a damn thing on the screen.

I had visions of it being lost in corporate corridors, or them refusing to repair it because it had been turned on too many times - the sort of things I had been reading about. But no, I spoke directly to an engineer who spent around half an hour with me on the phone while we ran hardware tests. When the problem had been diagnosed and it was clear we couldn't fix it in software he arranged for a courier and promised they would collect within two days - "Yeah right!", I thought.

On the second day I was ready to chase them up again as I was going on holiday at the end of the week, but I didn't have to wait long. The courier arrived in the morning with extensive packaging supplied by Apple and just two days after it left me they turned up again with it fixed and working as good as new - better actually because my original screen had suffered a dead pixel.

I'm impressed. This is probably the best response I've had from an equipment supplier (though Mackie also tend to bend over backwards, full marks there), and I've sent a lot of stuff away for repair over the years. I don't work for Apple, just love their products and in my case they fully deserve some positive comment.

So there it is. Apple obviously have problems in ceratin key areas but then so do most of these hi-tech companies and I can only speak as I find. Goodness knows I've suffered in the past (how about sending a brand new hard drive back to the manufacturer due to immediate drive failure and missing screws and then having it returned apparently fixed and subsequently tested with a pornographic AVI movie which the test engineers failed to delete!! An extra screw if you like [:O]ops: ). It's no consolation to Paul but I do feel better that in some small way I've set the record straight and should Mr.Jobs wish to reward me in some small way (ie. with a new Dual 2.7Gb G5) I may have to graciously accept [[;)]] .

    Yours, one happy Mac user.
