  • Yes, it is a Logic thing. I don’t know the technicals. Somehow a few years ago, Apple did something either to Logic or the OS. VSL said it rendered remote play/stop unworkable.

The reflex to hit space bar to launch playback is measured in microseconds, it would seem. When the user alternates between VEP work and composing in Logic, it’s a constant frustration.

  • An update might even include a way to skip scanning for plugins upon startup.

It's better to burn out than to fade away.
  • Plugin scanning was reworked and is much more solid and multiple times faster now (beta build). A bad behaving plugin should no longer be able to crash VEP during scanning as well.

If no major issues are being found the update will be released soon, so stay tuned!

  • Looking forward to this. VEP is such a great piece of software and I really do appreciate it every day - keep up the good work.

  • Great would also be a way to temporarely decouple a channel from it's group(s) with a modifier key (and maybe even a search bar and visibility filters for channels, but ig that's a tall order 😅)

In a perfect world, the update would allow me to hit the space bar in VEP and have it start playback in Logic.

And VEP would not require an extra mouse-click to open the Instrument pane.

These are two long, long-standing issues with my favorite software.

    oh yeah! #metoo

  • Any updates on the timeframe for this? I would loooove to be able to update all my Kontakt 7 instances to 8 automatically 😃

I would really like to see a Mute and Solo defeat button in VEP. Not too much to ask for, surely.

Have you got 'Show Channel Editor Upon Clicking Its Channel Strip' checked in preferences?

  • Glad to hear about the upcoming update. Can we expect VE Pro in the future using GPU just like MIR 3D Pro does ? I love Vienna Power House..

    Just curious....

    Thanks @JBuck.

I'm referring to a long-standing bug that VSL has acknowledged. The Instrument pane does not open until the channel gets an extra click. F4 will not work in this regard, and unfortunately the preference you mention has no effect.

An update is currently in internal testing 😊

It will be 2 months of internal testing soon...... Can't wait to be able to work in 7.1 AU3 with logic 11 !!!!!!

  • Sorry, we had to fix some issues that popped up. The update is still in testing.

  • Will an update have fixes for running VEP in background in Apple Silicon Macs?

  • Simon, I have VEP running in the background on my M2 Ultra Mac Studio and it is running perfectly!

  • It's not running perfectly for me. X-posting from VI-C:

The dropouts on the background are very noticeable when hosting VSL Synchron Player in VEPro on the background (only in Apple Silicon, I never recall experiencing these issues in my old iMac). I have not noticed as many dropouts in Kontakt or SINE instruments. BTW, you can check the Synchron Player's built-in performance meter and switch from foreground to background to see the impact. When VEPro is on the background, the "red" (system) takes most of the space, whereas on the foreground, it's the "blue" (user). This is very obvious in CPU intensive instruments, for example those using time stretching, such as the Main/Low/high percussion riffs in Synchron Percussion, as it reaches 100% and causes the dropouts. Increasing the buffer only helps so slightly and the number of threads has no impact at all. It's sooooo annoying that I am even considering using my M1 Max for Logic and keeping the M2 Ultra just for VEPro, so that it can stay on the foreground. I hate the idea of having to move back to two computers ... but if VSL does not release a fix I am not sure what else to do.
