  • Hi Karmand,

I think we have solved this situation via support already, is that correct?

  • Is there a newer version out now that I don't know about? It works the way I mentioned.

    k

    [EDIT]

I searched and searched your site under my products. Could not find a new Vienna Assistant installer more recent than the one I had. Funny thing? It was under e-licenser == read makes no freakin user friendly sense to put a new product under an old product list - well anyways... I found it after an incredible waste of my time trying to find it... and installed it.

Guess what? Now NOTHING IS INSTALLED.. and I'm not installing it again.

VSL is mud right now - super angry that you said in your videos and in forums that you can migrate anytime.

Not true - I bought Elite String - why not, it's on sale - I like the sound and I love Synchron Player.

Once I did that EVERYTHING BROKE - it is now Thursday 4- 5 days after this debacle and it shows this: screenshot showing NOTHING IS INSTALLED.

What a hot mess waste of time and money. I've spent TOO much money with you guys for this kind of crap. Sorry I am venting but I am only telling you my experience. -K

Angryness is not a good thing.

I'm sorry you have to feel that way.

I'd love to help you with a quick onscreen session, but I'm too afraid that you will explode because of your angryness.
You will find direct links to the Vienna Assistant in your confirmation mail, under all our videos and in 80% of our FAQs. Just sayin'...

Let me know when you are ready for help, and we'll do our best to help you!

    => support@vsl.co.at

We are 6 hours ahead of you, so please calculate that in. And as I cannot read much information out of your description, it may take a little time to set this up for you.

What I wanted to say with: "You can migrate anytime" is: Migrate when it fits in. Not when you are under stress or deadlines. Things can go wrong, there can be misunderstandings. Of course.

Well, I know that we can fix this, but I need a bit of friendliness to start the process.

    Best,
    Paul

  • So far after reading more  watching forums, I am noting as you have stated "Well I know that we can fix this..."

I don't think so. I've read and read about lot's of problems. I'm stuck until you really can fix things.

VEP7 does not work. Your forums and users elswhere have written about it. Speed, plugins not working unless you don't use some part of the functionality, slowness, not being able to load instances just to name a few. I'm hosed. The only thing I can do is not buy anymore problems from you guys and use others samples. What a waste too because I love the classic sound, articulations and the synchrony player, but now it's broke - as another example as trying a simple fix, I noticed that my timpani drums are not even shown in the synchrony player! What? yes, they are activated in iLok but I digress - Im just noting the hot mess continues and that reading forums shows it.

One last thing, me being angry about this has nothing to do with your system broken and you. 'fixing' things. What an incredible thing to believe that you can't help because someone is angry about your hot mess.

  • Having a similar problem, I can't install my Yamaha CFX Synchron library, it gives me errors at 8% install, no reason why, everything is up to date...

  • I don't have any problems installing, but almost always get a crash on exit

Dorico, Notion, Sibelius, StudioOne, Cubase, Staffpad VE Pro, Synchon, VI, Kontakt Win11 x64, 64GB RAM, Focusrite Scarlett 18i20, August Forster 190
  • I have wasted so much time on this. Vienna Assistant has been a complete disaster for me. It just doesn't work, like at all. I clicked to download and install the latest version of VE PR7 and it now says that it is installed but it isn't. I can't find it anywhere on my machine. When I try to uninstall it, Vienna Assistant just hangs.

  • Same problem, continuous crashes while downloading. sw v. 1.0.133

  • I'm able to use it, but Assistant crashes on quit on first launch. Intel Mac latest OS. Repro:

    1) Reboot your machine

    2) If you skipped step 1), go back and do step 1)

    3) No, really, this only happens on first launch

    4) Launch Vienna Assistant

    5) Quit without doing anything else, since you have no updates to apply

=> Crashes, with your custom send us crash feedback dialog

This is the 90% usage case: checking for updates when you boot up your machine, find none, and quit without doing anything else. Crashing in the 90% case doesn't exactly give the customer confidence.

Oh BTW I hadn't installed any Steinberg products in 20 years until yesterday. They are even worse at software quality. Please don't view them as normal. I don't think they've learned anything about making software in the intervening 20 years, and probably are still using much of the same code.

  • So it does help me to know that I am not the only one who has now basically given up on VSl after using Libraries that worked until the 'new' system. It now just crashes and freezes my Mac. Vienna Download Assistant freezes. VSl tell me that I have libraries loaded but I don't or at least they are not working. I really don't understand why these things are constantly 'improved' when they were working brilliantly as they were. It seems that we are now in a race to the bottom. Even trying to send a message to VSL froze my Mac which works great with all the otehr products I use from other providers.

I gave up trying to send a message in the end due to it repeatedly freezing. It just seems that whatever 'new' system that was recently launched was not fit for purpose.

    Bye

  • Hi Phil,

A LOT of time has passed since April, and the Vienna Assistant Software is very stable and reliable by now.

Please contact support@vsl.co.at with some basic information about your OS, your hardware and the used software versions, I'm sure we can figure this out. You can also provide your system ID or the email you used when you sent in your crash reports, so we can fine out more.

I think it would be fair to give us a chance, don't you?

    Best,
    Paul

Unfortunately, that doesn't apply to me (Apple M2 Pro, Sonoma 14.7).
The program always freezes during installation.
Since I switched from Windows to Mac, I've had problems with the software. It was fine for a while, but now with the latest version the problems have started again.
I'm a patient person and don't get angry easily, but I'm a bit annoyed now because I'd really like to use the software I paid for.
I've already spent a lot of time looking for a solution, and now I'm at my wits' end.

As I mentioned, I am a patient person. It just wouldn't leave me alone and I kept trying.
After reinstalling the software several times, it now works. 😎
After installing the software, I restarted the computer, started the software without starting anything, then I closed the software again.
Then I started the software again and started the download/installation process.
It is also important to make sure that Vienna Assistant is granted access to the hard drive in the system settings.

Maybe this can help others who have the same problems...

  • I find it funny, but not in a disrespectful way, that this is the first time I've read about these problems. Having had only good experiences with Vienna Assistant right from the start, I can't contribute anything constructive. I remember the time before when there was this kind of download manager for which you had to download a tiny file and open it before you could download the actual product. This was a bit of a hassle, so I was pleased when Vienna Assistant finally arrived, which allows you to download everything in one place without much fuss.

Quick info about my computer, in case it helps: it's a home-built PC that's high performance and runs Windows 10. It runs smooth af: Steinberg Download Manager, Cubase 13, Dorico 13, Vienna Assistant, VE Pro 7, Synchron Player, VI Pro, you name it.
