I don't see a problem. What do you think happens with other programs on a Mac? They put stuff all over the place. It's a few small pieces of code that does not hinder any performance. I'd rather have just the one license/authorization app like iLok. I'd say VSL made the right choice to protect their intellectual property.Unfortunately its not possible to upload screenshots. So I have to type manually what all is installed. And this all is for more flooding my system with crap.
/Library/Application Support/PACEAntiPiracy/LicenseSupport/lib/libpacefusion_shared.dylib
Library/LaunchDaemons/com.paceap.eden.licensed.plist
/Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/licenseDaemon.app
/Library/Frameworks/PACEEdenExperience.framework
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.paceap.eden.licensed.agent.plist
/Applications/iLok License Manager.app
/Library/Application Support/PACEAntiPiracy/LicenseSupport/bin/iloktool
P.S. Yes I know, Steinberg. Just made the transition flawless with C12. But also a lot of users had a lot of prbls with the transitions.

Hi guys,
Thanks for your feedback!
Here's a video on transition strategies!
Remember: No need to rush!
Best,
PaulCrikey, this scares me witless. I'm a composer (of sorts) and all I want is to use the VSL samples. I also want an ilok key as my computer will need replacement in a year or so, so from the user viewpoint the change is arbitrary - and it's a heck of a palaver to move everything over to this new system. It'll take a tract to time studying what I can and can't do before I even try to do it.
As to insurance, there's nothing as simple as the Vienna plan. Oh no, I go onto the ilok site, look up protection and there's a splurge of stuff that might as well be written in Assembler, I don't know about English. Nothing about guarantee. Something about needing to be seen every 90 days if I switch on something or other. No price information. And something to which I can't agree: "The best thing about TLC? It's included free with your ZDT subscription." There is no way I'm going to subscribe involving recurrent payments. I don't do that sort of thing. I haven't had to with the Vienna plan. So if I can't pay outright then I can't go with it. I mean, why can't I just buy protection similar to the Vienna plan.
Thankfully my days with composing are almost up so it looks like I'll have to stick with the eLicenser and not buy anything new. A shame. This new thing offers no advantage. And it's a rip off. £40 for the key and no information on the price of insurance. I even have to set up an account to check pricing.
You don't happen to do cut price Aspirins do you?

Go to this page: https://www.ilok.com/#!faq and click on the ZDT tab and all will be explained. ZDT is $30 US/year and it's probably the cheapest insurance for your music work ever. I have 2 iLoks with ZDT on each. If you take the time and work through the bullet points you'll get answers to everything and you don't need to be a lawyer to figure it out. For instance you'd see that when you enable TLC that your iLok has to be seen by the ILM software and iLok site every 90 days when TLC is enabled. You don't need to enable TLC if you don't want.

No. Looks like I can't go with it, having read the T&C. How can I expect to buy insurance for which I have to pay an extra $100 if needed in the first week?
And they won't have any credit card of mine on their files. I have just one credit card and that's on paypal. For most of my Vienna purchases I use a debit card. PACE is up to a right racket!
Edit: totally frustrating. Since posting the first bit of this message have been trying to set up an account. There's always something wrong with my submission. When I found a user ID that wasn't already used (and a few I tried were far from common - someone's already nabbed my VSL one) it says "please check your entry for user ID" and I have to go through that wretched capture thing again. What the heck am I supposed to check.
I give up now (and go away before I get angry).

I'm assuming you're talking about setting up an iLok account. Make sure you're allowing cookies and not using any script blockers.

Yep, I made the transition, too.
1. I made a complete backup of my system with all libraries (elic) to be safe.
2. I installed only the new Vienna Assistant.
3. All downloads were made to an external SSD w/o installation (download only).
4. While waiting for the iLok3 dongle to arrive and the all the downloads were finished, I was working with the former elic enviroment.
5. After registration of the new ilok3 dongle, all lics were stored on it (2 min. at all).
6. Within the VA, I chose "install from drive" for all libraries and deleted the former elic stuff.
Now everything is fine! :-)
There is only one point I want to mention:
The new Synchron Player 1.2.105 is still not "native". I'm working on macos Big Sur M1 and Studio One. I hoped it would come with that transition, too. Now, 1 1/2 years after the introduction of the M1 chips, I still have to run my DAW in Rosetta mode – only because of the Synchron Player. All other 3rd party plugins like Fabfilter, Liquid Sonics, HOFA, NI Kontakt most Toontrack stuff, Valhalla and many more... all are native, now.
For me this is CORE! I don't want to see popping up 5 or 10 new libraries or whatever before the Synchron Player finally becomes native M1. I think, there are many M1 users out there, still waiting.
Nevertheless, I'm very satisfied with that smooth transition – well done VSL!!!
Cheers, Gunter

I thought it would be a huge drag to have download everything again, but on the contrary, I find that I'm re-experiencing the thrill of downloading them the first time!

No, everything opens like it was saved before.Does this mean that I will have to reassign all the sounds in my DAW in every project? I have hundreds of projects.
(I tried searching under DAW, but the forum won't allow that as a search term)

unfortunately (or fortunately for the amount of results) the search term has to be at least 4 characters long.
and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds. -

No, everything opens like it was saved before.I made the transition to iLok.
I opened a song I did in logic a few years ago and got this message.
The plug-in named "Vienna Inst" isn't available on your system. Choose another plug-in, or quit Logic Pro and install the plug-in on your iMac in order to use it in the project.
I am able to load Vienna Instruments Pro but it did not reassign all the sounds in my project. I would have to manually reassign it myself. Hmm, not what I was looking forward to doing.

So unless I'm missing something, Vienna Instruments is no longer useable once you make the transition to iLok. Can anyone else confirm? I don't remember reading anything from VSL about them not making VI compatible with iLok, but it's listed as such in "MyProducts."

Hi,
That shouldn't be the case, transition should be automatic.
Please check that VI Pro shows up in Logic's Plug-in Manager (maybe you need to validate it manually). If that's not the case: Can you please send us your project, so we can look into it? support@vsl.co.at
Best,

Your eLicenser protected products will keep on working just like before.
You just cannot run both eLicenser versions and iLok version side be side on the same computer.VI is not compatible with iLok because we added a free update to VI Pro for all VI users with iLok.
Dig in to the extensive documentation to find out more!

Best,
PaulHi,
The following VSL Plug-ins show up in Logic's Plug-In Manager. All are successfully validated and checked.
Vienna Ensemble version 6.5.0
Vienna Instruments version 5.0.0
Vienna Instruments Pro version 5.0.0
Vienna Synchron Pianos version 1.1.0
Vienna Synchron Player version 1.1.0
I reinstalled Vienna Instruments Pro and Vienna Instruments Pro for VI. I opened another logic project I did with VSL Special Edition Vol. 1 and the transition was not automatic.
