  • Hi everyone,

10 days later until now, there is no reply from the VSL-Support. I have written 2 emails and asked for assistance.

I wanted to try again a fresh install of the Vienna Suite Pro, but using the uninstall option removes only the software, still leaving data of the plugins on the system.

In my second email to the VSL-Support, I asked to give me the information, which files or data was written to the computer and where to find them, so I can delete them manually.

Iโ€˜m still waiting for some kind of answer and for this reason I have to post again in this forum, sorry!

    Kind Regards, Gunter

    Hi Gunther,

I asked VSL software engineers again to look into the issue. The answer is:

    @Another User said:

I tested on the DTK [developer transition kit], and they worked. We donโ€™t have any M1 macs at VSL now, afaik. [...]

IOW: There's no actual hardware to reproduce the issue ATM, sorry to say so.

  • Thanks for your reply!

But how can I make a fresh install of the software? I need to delete some files โ€“ but which ones and this was my question before.

I allready made an uninstall as written before and tried to reinstall. So please tell me, what is installed and where I have to look. As a software programmer you could easily do this.

    Please, this would help me!

    Gunter

I am an overpaid ๐Ÿ˜‰ messenger in this thread, but as long as the developers don't communicate directly with you I can just copy/paste their answers here:

    @Another User said:

... run the uninstaller, then reinstall. There is nothing else that really matters with these plugins.

  • Yes, exactly I did this way. Nevertheless the same effect โ€“ it does not work...๐Ÿ™

So, for now I give up. I was really interested in the HybridReverb Pro from this Suite...

    Best Regards, Gunter

  • Hi everyone,

    ... more bad news:

This week came my new Apple Mac Mini with M1 chipset. It was brand-new out of the box and immediately, I installed VEPRO 7, VI Pro 2, the Synchron Player and a couple of VSL libraries.

Again, I tried to install the Vienna Suite Pro, but without success! It was the same scenario, I experienced with with my MacBook Pro (also M1).

After the license agreement, the installer jumps to customized installation by its own and informs you VST, VST3 and AU plugins will be installed with 0 kB. !?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Please, have a look to the attachment.

It is not possible to install Vienna Suite Pro on Big Sur with a M1 chipset, absolutly NOT!  It would be a good idea to give this hint to your customers on the product page! Otherwise, they end up like me with a purchase, they canโ€˜t use. (260โ‚ฌ is nearly MirPro24)

My advice to VSL: Buy a Mac with a M1 chipset and start testing, so you can prove it by yourself! ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘

    Best, Gunter

    Hi!

We are on it, but there is a lot going on right now.

Please make sure that you have Rosetta 2 installed.

    Best, Ben

  • Yes Rosetta 2 is installed, for shure!

  • I'm sorry to see you are having problems Gunter, but I thought it might be worth me noting here that Vienna Suite Pro installed and seems to work fine on my M1 Macbook Air. I know that doesn't help you as such, but it does suggest the problem is more subtle that it just not working with the M1 chipset.

    Best, Ian

  • Thank you very much for reply, Ian!

Iโ€˜m happy that it works for you. Donโ€˜t mind me, youโ€˜re shure it is the Suite Pro and not the โ€žnormalโ€œ Suite? As written above, I tried to install on a virgin system โ€“ brand new. There are no games or nonsense like this, as I use both computers only for music composing, indeed very strange.

May I ask which languge you use for Mac OSX? Did you do sth. special for the installation process, that could help me?๐Ÿ™

    Best, Gunter

  • It is indeed the Pro version. In fact I could not install the original version, but did not pursue it since I just assumed it was too old to work. I didn't do anything special to install the Pro version, and it has worked in both Logic and Cubase, so both AU and VST versions definitely installed correctly. My OS language is British if that helps.

I'm new to Macs, so I cannot offer any suggestions on what to try. Not much help I'm afraid, but I hope you manage to find what is causing the problem for you.

    Ian

  • Thanks a lot, Ian!

I think, I must wait until VSL comes up with a solution.

    Best, Gunter

  • Hi, I seems to be having this problem as well, Just downloaded VEP version 6.5.18947 mac, and I'm on Big Sur, Brand New MacBook pro (not M) and I get the install window that says 0kb and when I start logic 10.6.3 there is no plugins for VEP.

My other Macbook running Catalina 10.15.7 INTEL i7 runs VEP 6 fine.

Did you try restarting after the installation? On some systems, I have seen that AU plug-ins do not register with the system until you restart. I have an open ticket with Apple regarding this issue. It is not isolated to plug-ins from VSL.

This is a feature, not a bug. We compile all plug-in formats into a single bundle, and then create symlinks to this plug-in to cover all formats. It saves us a lot of installation space, since we don't have to make separate plug-ins for each format.

Hi Martin, thanks so much, that did the trick, I did a full restart of the system and Logic rescanned upon launch and the VSL plugs are there ๐Ÿ˜Š
