  • Difficulty Understanding Licensing for VEP on multiple keys/computers.

I have had VEP going back to version 1 (I still have the original box and CDs), and have upgrades to Versions 4, 5, and 6. I only had one Vienna key housing all the licenses for VEP and  the Vienna instruments I have (Extended Edition). I have been running a VEP server with my DAW (Logic) on a single computer.

Now I want to run VEP server on 2 additional slave machines. I purchased 2 new eLicensers and registered them with VSL on the website. What I am struggling with is getting the proper licenses on the additional eLicencer keys so I can run the VEP server on slave computers. When I try to enter an activation key from my registered VEP licenses I get an error in the eLicenser that says I have no licenses eligible for upgrading. My Vienna key in the eLicenser Control Center shows a "Collection License" for Vienna Symphonic Library for VEP 4, 5, and 6 and it tells me that those are a collection of several licenses that cannot be separated from one another.

I have a feeling I did something wrong years ago at the very start that is causing me problems now.

I know that my VEP (AND Vienna Instruments Pro - I have that too) has 3 licenses, but how do I get those individual licenses to each of my 3 eLicensers so I can run VEP server on 3 different machines?

AND once I have THAT done, do the actual instrument libraries (VSL, EW, Kontakt, etc.) have to reside ON the slave computers themselves or can they load over the network from a SAN or networked disk drive?

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi Brad,

Just checked your registrations, and you only registered 1 serial of VE PRO 4 back in 2010.

I have already requested our IT team to find the missing serial numbers so that I can contact you, but that might take until monday. So if you still have that VE PRO 4 package, you will find your serial numbers in there and you should register them here.

Once this is done, you can download the licenses and then apply the VE PRO 4=>5 upgrade licenses and then the VE PRO 4+5=>6 upgrade licenses.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Paul,

You have GOT to be kidding me!

When I log into your website and go to MyVSL and go to My Products, I see every product I've licensed for the last 8 years, with the  latest registration being when I purchased the VEP 6 upgrade on Aug 16, 2016,

Are you looking at the correct records?

I'll send you all my serial numbers in a separate email if you want verification.

  • Paul,

I clicked on the link you sent in your reply and it took me to the same MyVSL/MyProducts page I have been looking at for years. When I see it, it shows 14 registrations ranging from 2010-05-05 to 2016-08-16.

The tasks you said I should perform in your reply, I did in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, and 2016 when I purchased the Vienna libraries, software, and upgrades. All the registrations are on the MyVSL/MyProducts page.

I don't know why you can't see them when I can. I have legally purchased your products either from the VSL website, or from ILIO. I have faithfully registered the serial numbers immediately after each purchase, and according to your own website, all those registrations are valid.

I have proof of purchase receipts, screen grabs of my eLicenser, and screen grabs of your own website showing all my registrations. I also have emails I received from VSL with serial numbers and activation codes for all my VSL products. Would you like me to send you these data?

    I would appreciate a response.

    Thank you

  • Hi Brad,

I have just sent you an email, containing your VE PRO 4 serial numbers and further instructions. Sorry for the delay.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Paul,

I must apologize for not understanding what you were telling me. I thought that what you were saying was that you had ONLY ONE license of mine in your system. That one being for VEPro 4. I thought that none of my other licenses were in your system, or that the data had got mixed up with another VEP user account, or something. Naturally this would make me unhappy if it were true.

But I understand from your last email that what you were saying was that you had one VEP 4 licsense and that the other 2 were missing.

Anyway I followed your instructions to activate the other 2 VEP 4 licenses and do the upgrades, and everything is fine now.

Thanks so much again for your help.
