  • Vienna vst3 plugins

    Hi.

I'm completly new in vienna ensemble pro. As I bought a second pc, I still use my old one via gigabit lan & vienna.

It works perfectly. But At the install, I choose only vst3 plugins. And now, I can't see any vienna vst3 plugin. In fact, it seems that I only have access to .dll plugins.

    I think vienna is vst3 isn't it ?

Any advice would be welcome to help me !

    Many thanks ! :)

  • VEP has a VST3 connector that you should see when you load it in your sequencer. What sequencer are you using?

    DG

  • Well, the sequencer is cubase 8 but it's on the other pc. I don't find vienna vst3 plugins in vienna pro !

  • I just went to have a look and apparently, I don't see vst3 vienna plugs in cubase 8 either. And vienna pro in installed on both pc.

  • OK, I'm now getting confused. Perhaps you could answer a few questions and I'm sure that I can help you.

    1. What Vienna plugs are you looking for?
    2. Have you set the correct path in the VEP Prefs?
    3. Are you using the standalone or server version of VEP on your slave? Does Cubase know where the Vienna plugs are installed?

    DG

  • Sorry, I'm late !

So ! I just installed ensemble & instrument pro on both pc, as there is several licences.

Yes, I set the correct path in vep and in cubase.

On the master pc, I loaded cubase & vep as vst instrument.

Maybe, at the vep & vip install, one should install vst2 plugins as well ?

I think I forgot to say both pc are 64bit, windows 7.

For instance, in my old pc, the slave one, I loaded BFD2 in vep, controled by cubase in the master pc and it works perfectly. But in slave pc vep, there is no vip, however, vip 64bit is a dll, the path to that directory is correct : I can find the other instruments from that directory. Very strange !

    I just understood vep doesn't install any vst plugins ! 🤔 😶

    I certainly misunderstood somehing, somewhere...

But I still don't see vip in vep !

  • There is no VST3 version of VIP. Maybe that's where some of the confusion lies.

Did you install VIP after VEP?

    DG

  • Yes, after.

Anyway, the essential is to have vip in cubase and as I don't have any vienna library licence in the slave pc, I'll never load vip in vep... So, it doesn't matter that much...

    Hi JoPo,

VI PRO shows up as a separate icon in the lower left corner of VE PRO, it´s not in the list of other installed instrument plug-ins. You need the latest versions of both VE PRO and VI PRO, and of course the corresponding licenses need to be available.

    Best,
    Paul

    Ooops ! Yes ! I've seen it ! 😕

    Thanks !

But several vip & vep licences are provided, which is a good thing for network soft but only one for the libraries, so libraries are stucked on one pc, it's a pity.

Is it possible to use a vienna library in vip which has its licence on another pc connected via vep ? It would be convenient.

No this is not possible, but there is nothing to stop you installing the libraries on all computers and then transferring the dongle as necessary.

    DG

  • Ok but what is going to happen if I remove the dongle after a library is loaded on a pc ?

  • Hi JoPo,

The licenses are being checked while you are working (that´s why there is a hardware key).

Yes, sadly... It means that if I want to use a vienna library on another pc, I must first transfer its licence from one elicencer key to the other. PFffff......

  • No, just take the key from one computer and plug it into the other one.

It could be possible if there was only the library licence on the key !

  • So if you are going to be wanting to open VSL on multiple computers it would be better to put the licences on their own key, so that it really is plug and play.
