string harmonics on sibelius

This has worked before, but I can't figure out for the life of me why the the harmonics are not playing now!? I have loaded the sound sets, configured the vsl ensemble for matrix special edition plus patches. Any idea what I am missing?

I can't say from here what exactly goes wrong. Did you try triggering the harmonics as described in the "Optimizing Sibelius Playback" manual, page 9?

If it doesn't work this way maybe you have a Sound ID from earlier in your score that's in the way. To reset the Sound ID use one of the following Technique Text commands before the harmonics: "ord.", "natural" or "normal".

If this still doesn't help, there's maybe a problem in your setup. In this case, please check the Troubleshooting section of the manual.

I've done all that and it's still not working. I've also noticed that the tremolos are not working either.

Then there's probably an error in your set up. In order to help you I will need a detailed description of your Playback Configuration (loaded sound set, Manual Sound Sets page), the exact name of the Sibelius instruments you are using, and the VI matrices or presets you have loaded.

Please also write down what you have already tried.

Ok, the instruments listed in the Sibelius score are flute, oboe, bass clarinet in Bb, viola and contrabass. The playback configuration is as follows: Active device is the Vienna Ensemble VST with the sound set of VE Special Edition plus. Sound sets are wind.flutes.flute, wind oboes.oboe, wind.clarinets.bass, strings.viola and strings.contrabass. I am running a Mac Pro with 10.8.0 and Sibelius 6.

Also the matrices from VI not VI pro! Have the flute 1 matrix, french oboe matrix, bass clarinet, solo viola and solo bass.

Which instruments do you use in your score? I am talking about the instruments you have chosen from the Sibelius instruments menu.

Did you load the Special Edition or the Special Edition PLUS (with "+" at then end of the name) matrices?

The instruments from sibelius that i chose were: Flute, Oboe, Bass Clarinet in Bb, Viola and Contrabass. And yes I am using the matrices with the '+' sign after them.

Was I supposed to use the 'Solo Viola' and 'Solo Contrabass' instruments from the Sibelius instrument page?

Yes, the Solo Strings programs on the Manual Sound Sets page only work correctly with the Solo Strings Sibelius instruments.

You can simply add the new instruments and then cut and paste the content from the old staves to the new ones.
