Here is one of the two Elegiac Melodies of Grieg, "The Last Spring" which he orchestrated from his own piano piece. I was inspired by all the classical pieces being put on here by Goran, Servando, Phillippe, and the other great performers here, and always thought this piece is such a wonderful melody with incredible string scoring by Grieg. It is pure fun to do this with the VSL strings since there are only nine tracks total, each with only two articulations - legato and sustain. This mix used Mozart hall with a small amount of algorhythmic reverb -

Very nicely done William. I love the way you handle the string programming. As I listen to it, I feel like I'm listening to a live orchestra. I find that to be the case with everything you have placed out on this site as of late. Great Job.....

Beautiful performance, William. You know, I began to work on this little gem short before I got mail and somehow changed my plans for the immediate future (^_-)... so I'm glad you took the job (^_^). Life can be really funny sometimes...
I can still vividly remember the impact this piece and its "couple", Heart Wounds, had on a young boy who didn't even know what a subdominant was at that time. It's really nice to have it "VSLized" now. Congratulations and many thanks for sharing!

Very nice work, William. I didn't know this orchestration of Grieg. The realism of the violins is impressive, indeed. Thanks for these few minutes of musical joy. Philippe
