Yes, if you want to use your tracks in MIR you will need to use the audio input plugs. However, you may find that some of the processing you are doing with your UAD cards will be unnecessary when you are using MIR. The other thing to remember is that MIR isn't a reverb. You can't just route stereo stems into it as you would a reverb plug. That is not what it is designed for. Therefore you will need to think carefully about workflow in order to find that best way to do things.

I would have thought that one good way would be to send each instrument that you want to route into MIR back to Cubase from your slaves via their own outputs, which will show up in the VSTi output section in your mixer. Then I would put an audio input plug on each of these and route these into a local instance of MIR Pro, obviously hosted in VE Pro. This is slightly convoluted, but you can set up a Preset to call up for future projects.

I would also recommend trying the demo version out before buying, just to make sure that the workflow is acceptable to you.

Thanks, for the great reply. I am trying demo out currently and trying to make quick decisions might need to slow down but need to take advantage of holiday special deals.

This would probably be a no brainer for me if like VEP5 there were multiple license available for my Host and Slave.

I currently do run Comp2 into Comp1 mixer but/ I am unclear as to how I would route the separate outputs from Computer 2 into VEP5/MIR. An example of current setup where I am trying MIR =

• Comp 1: (host): VEP5, Mir,  Drms Vln, Celo, Bass, Trillian, Vienna Imperial -
  
• Comp 2: Hrn Sec, Bone, Mute Trp, Trp, Clarinet etc. I am sending each output off comp2 to mixer on Cubase running UAD Neve plugs etc and sending all to Group channels that uses UAD Studer.

How would I get those COMP1 input channels in DAW into VEP5 to run through MIR. I guess my goal is to set up entire band or orch on same stage. Hope all that is understandable :)

I know I don't have a grasp on its power yet or the proper way to set up. I do understand your explanations as to rethinking my work flow...and will hopefully do flow charts to make it happen when I get down time

This is a great reason to love VI plugs because even though I like my Play edition stuff, there is no where to get great support like this (and the sounds kill)

1. As long as each of your returns for the slave comes back as it's own VSTi Output, you can treat that the same as an audio track. Same with the VSTi Outputs on the Host PC.
2. You can route these into an instance of MIR using the VEP audio input plug. I'm not sure where you would put your Neve plugs, if if you would need them at all.
3. You could set stem outputs from MIR and use those as your Group channels that use Studer. Again,. until you try it, you may not need the UAD at all, or only on some other instruments. I'm not sure how the UAD is seen by Cubase, but you could even load them in MIR (using J-Bridge, if they are still 32bit).

Many possibilities. The first step is to see if you like the sound of MIR and what it does for you. The second step is to think about altering your workflow.

Yes, that's it in a nutshell. :-) VE Pro's & MIR Pro's output will appear as the "Instrument Output" of the VE Pro Server plugin in Cubase.

Sidenote: Most effect plugins and virtual instruments that come with Cubase itself won't load in VE Pro, because their licenses are tied to Cubase; VE Pro will be seen by them as 3rd-party host. You can use VE Pro's "Audio Input" plugin in Cubase to route Cubase's instruments to VE Pro / MIR Pro, however.

Seems we have three license available using VEP5, but only one available for MIR? Is there a way to run MIR in each computer that is running VEP5 during project or can you sugest best approach. I do like MIR and would like to have ability to place all instruments in stages on both computers I am using during project. Will there be a license available for 2nd dongle available for a smaller fee...I would hate to have to purchase two MIR copies. Thanks for any suggestions

At the moment you would have to buy an extra licence to use MIR on two computers. The other option is to use MIR on the DAW, and use the audio input feature.

As mentioned several times before, MIR wasn't planned to be used like a conventional reverb plugin, but as the final, unified stage for a mix. We didn't (and still don't) see much sense in having multiple instances of MIR Pro opened, mostly because it makes things unnecessarily complicated. In most cases this approach proved to be true, but of course we understand that some MIR users have different needs and workflows.

Right now, running MIR Pro in several machines will need a full license for each system. We trying to come up with a sensible solution in the near future, thouh. You still won't get two full additional licenses for free, but it will make the spreading across more machines affordable.

Thanks so much Mr Dietz, Purchased it yesterday along with most of my missing extended library collection..I REALLY LOVE THE SOUND. I just loaded abount 20 instruments on one computer looking forward to really getting to know this one. I am still lost on the audio ins and out but I am sure it won't take long. The Audio In / Out -feature is actually pretty straight-forward, once you have grasped the underlying concept. You will have to instantiate a "VE Pro Audio Input" plugin on any channel of your DAW, this will take any audio signal from this point and route it to the assigned input of VE Pro (which has to be opened in "Server Mode" as a Virtual Instrument. There you can do with the signal whatever you want to - route it into MIR Pro, apply any kinmd of processing, and/or mix it with other signals.

The only thing to keep in mind is that the signal won't come back on the original channel, but rather on VE Pro's output channels.
