Hi!
Here are some questions about Epic orchestra that I can't figure out after reading the product page:
1) How many velocity layers per instrument and articulation? How many variations for the staccati? Are the keys chromatically sampled or are the samples stretched? What kind of technology is used to prevent the machinegun effect?
2) Why so few useful articulations for woodwinds and brass? There are more available for the string section, so it seems illogical. [*-)]
3) Why no Bass clarinet in the woodwinds section? IMHO an epic orchestration needs a full section sound, hence a bass clarinet for the fundament helps reinforce the tonal quality of Bassoons. [*-)]
4) What kind of laughable "epic" brass section consists of only Horns and Trumpets? If I'd try to sell that to a director he'd just laugh at me.. [:D] Can we please have Trombones and at least one Tuba in the ensemble, please? Pretty please?
5) Can we please have a complete brass section mapped out on the whole keyboard as you did with the woods and strings? Would be awesome (an consistent with your obvious intention to imitate Symphobia... [:D])!
Now some questions which are indirectly related only to "Epic orchestra":
6) What is the advantage of "Epic orchestra" for someone that already owns SE and SEP? From the product page it seems that EO is a cut down version of SE (with the addition of the Trumpets and few ensemble patches).
7) Are those supposedly useful channel strip presets only useable with your Vienna Suite? Unfortunately the wording doesn't make it clear what exactely those are..
8) Will there be a sound set for Sibelius 5/6, so we can use those useful ensemble patches for quick sketches?
All in all it sounds like a very interesting product. It would be great if someone from VSL could answer my questions. Thanks in advance for taking the time!
