  • My Cubase 5 (on a mac) doesn't recognize my VI Special Edition

My Cubase 5 (on a mac) doesn't recognize my VI Special Edition.

    I am working with a M-Audio Firewire 410.

The VI StandAlone works, the M-audio box is working in Cubase, it's just that Cubase doesn't load and recognize VI.

Does anybody have a clue how to fix this? Is it possible it has something to do with the VIplugin-map not connecting with any Cubase map??

    Hope you can help me!

  • Heya,

no idea if the directory structure is anything like on the PC, but when I installed cubase 5 on my computer, I had to add my "old" VstPlugins folder to the plugins folders.

    Cheers

    roc

  • this is my main problem. The directory structure is nothing like a Windows-computer, I can find the Cubase 5 button which triggers the program to start, but cannot find any maps like a plugin or VST-map.

    Still haven't found a solution?

  • Could anyone from the Vienna team please help? I still cannot work with my Vienna Instruments.

It does recognize other VST Instruments I installed together with my Cubase 5, like the HAUlion Orchestrals Try & Buy - version.

  • No idea about Cubase 5 as I'm still on v4.  However VSTs on a Mac usually reside in Macintosh HD\Library\Audio\Plug-ins\VST.

So I'd start by checking it contains the ViennaInstruments.vst

  • very interesting, found the plugin map and it does contain the viennaInstruments.vst + the HALion map, so this is kinda weird to me, because HALion works perfectly and Vienna Instruments still does not.

I found that the actual files that were installed from the Vienna DVD's (special edtion 001 - special edition 113) are recognized as .dat-files, could it be it has something to do with this??? Those files were stored in my Documentsmap, just like the HALion-files.

  • I just installed VI Special Edition today and I'm having the same issue in Cubase 4 for Mac. The first time I ran Cubase after the install, the system hangs so I had to force quit. After that, Cubase loads fine but VI SE isn't listed under the VST instruments. When I try to update the VST Plugins the program freezes again. I'd appreciate any help with this as this is quite frustrating. Thanks.

    Hello everybody,

I´m using Cubase on OS X all the time, have not had any trouble with the installation of any version.

Just to make sure: You are using the latest versions of the Syncrosoft LCC and the VSL Software, right?ett

Could you send a crashlog to support (at) vsl (dot) co (dot) at?, so that we can take a look at this?

The more information and screenshots you can include, the better, of course!

    Thanks,

    Paul

  • thanks for the reply, yes I am using the latest License Control Center, it does recognize the licenses of my Cubase and the Vienna Instruments. Also using the latest VSL Software. Hope you can help us!

  • Update: I got my VI Special Edition to work but I'm now having a different issue! After playing around for some time last night, I noticed that the problem might've been caused by having two different dongles for the elicenses (One for Cubase and another for VI). I decided to transfer my VI license to my Cubase dongle. Well it appears that the transfer worked because I'm able to see the transferred license in the Cubase dongle, however the License Control Center keeps telling me that I have no internet connection (not true) and that the the transfer process was interrupted. I ignored this and tried the load VI in Cubase and it worked fine! I'm now trying trying to install my VI SE Plus and getting the "no internet connection" error when trying to download the license... This time around I'm unable to just bypass this message as the license doesn't appear to be there... sigh. One problem solved but another arises...

  • Hi Milo.

I had the very same problem. Brand new macbook pro, cubase 5, the very latest vienna instruments software and syncrosoft LCC, m-audio profire610.

Try updating the plug in information in cubase.. Devices menu, plug in information, update

Vlenna instruments should then be listed and you should then find it in vst instruments.

I had to turn off and turn back on the profire610 as all audio was lost in cubase.

    All seems fine now.

    Hope this helps!

    Steve.

  • Wow! It seems to work! It recognizes my VI and I still am using two dongles. Ill keep y'all updated about if it's truly working, gonna try out right NOW! Thanks a lot
