  • Save Button not enabled

okay guys. again, i must preface this with my apologies for my embarrassing newbieness.

so i tried to make a really simple "test file" to get the hang of making my own V.I. patches. i just made two layers of a portamento sustain Violin with a vertical articulation switch to legato sustain violin.

so in the matrix page, i hit the Save button icon, and my dialog window comes up asking me what to name it. but the save button is greyed out! i am unable to save anything. i watch the tutorials, but they seem to even have a different GUI, where the save button is located on the left side of the screen, whereas mine is on the matrix page but on the RIGHT side.

what am i doing wrong here? and also, i see no way of naming my custom patch. ive tried double clicking, command-clicking, etc, on every possible place, but i cant seem to be able to give my custom patch a title.

what am i doing wrong!? [*-)]

  • Are you running OS X?

If so, it may be the permissions problem that seems to happen sometimes when installing the VIs. Go to the Finder and check the permission on your Vienna instruments Custom Data folder (in your home folder). Make sure you have write permission, then try saving again.

  • Awesome. that fixed the Save problem. however, i still dont understand where or how i can give my custom patch my own name? i would assume this is done in the Martix page, on the left window, but nothing seems to be working.

i must be really stupid. [:P]

    thanks agin, JBM [:)]

  • Glad that fixed it!

On the bottom right side of the VI window you should see a little floppy disk icon, and an X. If you're in Matrix view, clicking the floppy icon will bring up a Save dialogue. The X will delete the selected Matrix. Same buttons have the same functions when you're in Preset view.

...but I'm guessing you discovered this already.

    cheers,

    J.

  • I am having the same problem (save button grayed out) and repairing disk permissions did NOT fix the problem. Please advise....thanks

Delete the folder, create it again. There must be some bug in the VSL installer.

  • Wow - it worked! You rock, thanks Simon.
