Where is the B-flat Trumpet? Has this instrument been released? I asked a representative from Ilio, and he had no information.

Where is the Bb Trumpet?

Not that it is any consolation (cause I want a b flat solo trmpt as well), BUT the new 'special brass' collection has six trmpts - 3 b flat and 3 C - I thought I saw.

Because there is a difference in the length of tubing there is a tonal difference. However this isn't really noticeable unless you A/B a Bb and a C trumpet. In other words - when trumpets are used within a track it would be tricky to say which was which. To put this in context it is less noticeable - IMHO - than, say, telling the difference between 'real' and 'sampled'. Same goes for piston and rotary valves. My main concern is the fact that the range sampled/recorded is the 'classical' range ie they stop at 'top C'. Working in film, trumpet parts regularly go an octave above that. I hope that 'one day' VSI will take this into account.

Oh great. As it is too many people don't understand the care that must be taken when writing in that range. Start putting out samples in that range and we'll have people writing trumpets in the stratosphere all the time.
"You mean all four of you guys can't sustain notes above a high C for the majority of the cue? Why not? My sampler can do it!"
