    I feel I'm being really stupid, but when I try to save a customised preset (by clicking on the save icon) I can name the preset and navigate to a save destination with the save dialog box, but the actual save button is greyed out. (OS X 10.4.8 & Logic Pro 7.2.3)

    I've noticed this in the past, as well. It seems the "Vienna Instruments Custom Data" folder can sometimes be written with incorrect permissions. Just make sure you can write to it in the Finder... worked for me.
