  • Appassionata Legato and Portamento question

Just got the Appassionata Strings installed and they sound great!

One question, is there any way with the App Strings to get the portamento articulation other than through the A/B switch? With the Orch Strings the legato and portamento patches could be put in separate cells. I currently switch between cells via midi channel data (following the Jerome's suggestion a few months back) and would like to continue doing that to switch between articulations, including legato and portamento with App Strings if possible.

    Thanks,
    Steven

  • A/B switch only.
But you can assign any controller to A/B switch.

  • Sgentry,

If you have the leg/porta in one cell with the A switch and the 2nd cell the same inst with the B switch doesn't it come to the same?

  • Thanks for the replies.

Guy, yes, that is what I would like to do. However, I don't want to send any type of A/B switch from my sequencer, but rather control the articulation via a channel switch like I do all other articulation switches. This was possible with the Orchestral Strings 1/2 because the legato and portamento were in their own dedicated cells.

What would help here is if there was a way to assign the A/B state in a cell in the VI directly. Then I could load one cell with the A state and the next cell with the B state of the same patch, and then just switch between legato and portamento with a MIDI channel change.

However, from Herb's reply it doesn't look like this is possible with the current VI.

I wrote an MFX plug that does the cell switching so I guess I will have to add some more logic that sends the A/B switch info with the cell switch data.

    Thanks,
    Steven
