  • Price increase in the US?

Just got an email from VSL. Is this 10% price increase coming up soon due to currency?

  • And, on what may be a similar issue, the discount calculator has been down at least five days now. When can we expect it to get back on line? And will it reflect the price increases?

  • I wondered about this, too. There are still a few Extended Cube licenses I've yet to buy.

    Hmm.

  • According to VSL's e-mail notice the price rise is due to the change in value of the dollar over the past year. If the dollar strengthens, going, for example, from the current $1.2946 (today's price for one Euro) to say $1.2132 over the next few months (approx.a 6.2% reduction in value of the Euro) will this result in VSL reducing prices accordingly? Perhaps the discount calculator will be re-designed to reflect daily or monthly foreign exchange market action?

  • Will credit from existing purchases towards new VI Instruments also go up 10%?

It would only make sense as they were purchased when the currency exhange was higher. Otherwise, if it were a one-sided adjustment, it would be a double-whammy towards those who had invested in VSL products with the intent to upgrade.

  • The calculator should be online next week.
If you need your prices for certain products you can check it directly at the PRODCUTS page. If you are locked in, you can see the VIP prices in the "Your Price" columne.
The increased Dollar prices will be visible in the Calculator after February 15th.

  • synergy, of course also the discounts will increase by 10%

stevesong, the prices have been kept stable since almost one year now although the US-dollar has been (partly very much) above 1.2 and currently it doesn't look like it will go down much below 1,3 ... but clearly adjustments will happen in both directions if needed.

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Last three days have been 'trending' downward. Let's hope this continues.

I have a call into George W. to see what he can do to strengthen the USD against the Euro. [:D]

Seriously, I know all Euro based companies are becoming less and less competitive with their North America and Asian competitors (due to currency imbalances).

Euro is gaining strength against USD as many central banks are converting part of their their reserves in Euro. Could it be the dawn of a global recession and a concurrent VSL prices fall?
