  • How far will the performance tool get me?

In other words... would it do the job, and be sufficient (for someone without excessive amounts of cash) or would I clearly be missing something. Im considering getting the performance tools becuase what really has me hooked is the legato tool... But... im also wanting it to function as my orchestra liberary... so.. how far will it take me?

  • *bump*

  • The performance too is amazing, but if you have no other libraries there will be gaping holes. If this is your first library and you want to make full orchestral arrangements, buy the cube.

  • I do have an ok liberary now... kind of lacking good woodwinds and strings... great horns though.

  • Patiarch,

If you tell me what you have, I can be more specific with my answer.

  • I have sam horns, a fairly large string liberary (although i dont like the sound of it too much), Timapni and cymbals... and a flute. So more or less no woodwinds...

  • while I really like the cubes winds, the performance set triggers so fast on the winds that it may be all you need most of the time. Yea ,you'll be missing trems and trills but the performance stuff works great. You can use the performance strings possibly to layer what you already have. Sams is great. I'm leaning toward the Performance library for you because of what you already own. How's your percussion?

  • Its pretty basic... but so far its been what i need. But that could have something to do with me not being a percussive expert... its some timpani in different articulations, cymbals, gongs and a church bell... and a quite poor harp

  • One more thing,

What is your current computer setup and how much memory do you have in it (them). Is your sequencer on the same computer, and do you plan to upgrade soon. The Performance package takes a little juice to run it, while the cube is fairly easy on the computer, so this might influence your decision.

  • hmmm.. its a 1200 mhz, with 400ram... not alot I know.. I am planning on a upgrade, but who knows when. And yes, I have sequencer and Giga on same computer... so people normaly use more than one?`Whats the main reason for this.. ram?

  • You will need more power to run The Performance set. If you can buy another computer, with 1 to 1.5 gigs running aroun 1.8GZ or faster than The Performance set is an option. If you have to stay on your current computer I would not recomend it. The cube will get you further.

Yes people run more than one computer. If you could keep your current computer for sequencing and buy another for giga studio it would help a lot.
