I've been hearing a lot about the V-Stack. I have been using KORE, bought VST to RTAS wrapper (using PT) and have been frustrated with both of them. I miss the Giga versions, especially now that I purchased the Appassionata series. I am willing to use my older G5 as a slave. If anyone can please post a link or some tips as to how I can make it work with Steinberg's V-Stack, I surely will appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I have managed to run multiple instances in ReWire via Plogue Bidule. But it's a bit complicated, and somewhat buggy. If anyone is interested, I can post the exact procedure. Someone else had previously posted a how-to, but I found that I had to do it a little differently in order to make it work.
Hi plurye and charlzj,
I have PT HD3 on a Mac G5 dual 2.0MHz and I just bought PD (Plogue Bidule). What are the exact steps to get one VSL VI instance connected to PT? How about more than one? Also, what are the 'somewhat buggy' issues? I've put in a few hours on PD and was only successful in getting VSL VI to run standalone inside PD, but I'm at a loss lost trying to figure out how to connect it to PT.

Since the discussion is somewhat around an RTAS version of the Vienna Instruments, do you know if there's going to be a Sculpture version of the Vienna Library?
I mean, this could be the best solution for PT users, no?
Vincent
"Never say never", I know, but this is very, very unlikely. Sculpture doesn't offer certain features which are crucial for our concepts. The VSL has developed the Vienna Intruments - our own, highly spezialized player - mainly with the goal in mind to be _not_ too dependent on 3rd-party products.

Hi Dietz,
thanks for letting me know.
This is really interesting because I've heard at Namm the Digidesign saying that they were working with the Vienna staff to make it happen.
I was really surprised by this since they also partnered with one of your competitor, the Easwest company.
It makes more sense to stay away from a 3rd party solution. I totally agree with this.
However, I understand the frustration of PT users (I am one of them).
I have a second computer so this is not a real problem for me and I'd add that most of PT users who own a TDM solution probably have multiple computers also.
But we're not far from being able to get enough juice from one computer to run the Vienna Instruments + PT.
It'd make a lot of sense for people (like me) that travel a lot and that need a somewhat portable rig with only one computer.
I just hope the Vienna team will not forget the RTAS support or find an alternative to make it work reliably.

Rest assured that the frustration was big on _our_ side, too, when our developers found out that there seems to be no way to get the same performance from RTAS-based systems as we get from VST/AU. - But no, we won't forget this format [:)]
All the best,

Live 6 now works as a host over ReWire. I'm going to try it with PT next time I get a chance. It's expensive if you only use it as a host, but of course it's a great program as well (and I say that as someone who's not really very interested in loops).
So maybe this is the way to use VSL with Pro Tools.

It turns out I was wrong - Live 6 only hosts its own V.I.s over ReWire. FL Studio apprarently does, though.
