  • Questions about Pro Edition

    Hi VSL Team,

I am a happy camper with vsl first edition and have some questions about the pro edition...
    1. Since its 250gB r u shipping on a hardrive ?
    2. Can Giga read a 250GB Firewire drive or do you need to split it on multiple machines (of course its nice to do that but do you HAVE to) ?
    3. Since the G5's r coming I am wondering about the future of giga so I am wondering if I should start getting my libraries in EXS24 format from now on ...therefore what is the price for the pro edition for exs24 if u own the giga version already ?

    That's it for now...

We made calculations, but the shipping on Harddiscs is not economic at the moment (with this Datasize). The files are lossless compressed, so there will be only few DVDs more than in the First Edition.

We make our presentations on fire wire harddiscs without a problem.
I don't know it exactly, but I think we used 150 Gig firewires.
There shouldn't be a restriction if you want to use larger discs.
But this is an issue for CM.
I'm sure we have to test it in the near future.

I would say the effectivest way to crossgrade is to upgrade [[;)]]
This is not an official announcement, but when we will release the Symphonic Cube on Harddrive, we plan to support Pro Edition users, who only want to upgrade to a 24 Bit version with an dedicated Pro Editon harddisc version. You would only pay for harddrive costs and administration. So if you own the Giga Pro Edition, you could upgrade to a 24 Bit version (and of course to the Symphonic Cube).
I don't see a restriction, why this 24 Bit upgrade could not also be a crossgrade.

    best wishes
