  • Program Change instead of KS

Good ! But in Logic work just after recorded programs change.
    Shure is a Logic issue.
    Any suggestions ?
...and : the program change are also related to the matrix cells in the presets ?
( Mean not only the main matrix cells ).

Not quite sure what you mean, could you try and expand on your problem. I'm thinking you mean to switch programs in the VI using Midi Bank and Program Change commands. AFAIK this is not possible you must use key switching.

As an aside I often have two tracks going to the same VI - the 1st track is the tune/melody and the 2nd track is purely for keyswitches - helps me seperate out melody from performance. MIght be useful to you

  • Many thanks. But is not usefull for me. Especially using many KS in short range....
must see the real notes up.

  • With version 1.1 Matrix switches can now programmed via control changes.
So you don't have to use keyswicthes any more.
(Horizontal, vertical and A/B switches can be done with any controller of your choice)

  • Cool - thanks Herb I didn't realise

    Cheers

  • Many thanks Herb....but in Logic only work after prog. change recorded. So is very hard to use.....especially if using Logic and realtime playng.

That sounds really nice. But please: How can this be done? I installed my VI yesterday und learned how to switch between patches via controllers (I have a very useful Behringer NANO). But I don't find an option to repleace the Keyswitches I currently have with PC (not CC) commands. If I make them red (in order to learn), nothing happens when a PC (e.g. 102) is submitted.

By the way: I didn't find a documentation to the updated VI-Version. Doesn't it exist somewhere around here (I looked in FAQ, User Area, Forum etc.).

So if anybody of you could help me out, that would be great!

    Thanks a lot and goodby

  • If you are working on a new file you can use keyswitches or MIDI controller values to switch patches. For example, you could use keyswitches for the matrix's vertical dimension (V-Span) and MIDI controller values for the horizontal dimension (H-span) or vice verse or use two different MIDI Continuous controllers for each dimension. If you already have patch changes in a previously existing score and are working in Logic you can use a Transformer in Logic's Environment to change Patch Change values into either CC values or Keyswitches. To obtain the CC values you need, simply divide 127 by the number of matrix cells you have in the dimension you wish to affect. Thus, if you used CC2 (or any other Continuous controller) to change patches in the horizontal dimension in a matrix having 3 horizontal rows, you could use values of 2, 65 and 120 to move between the cells in the horizontal row; if your matrix had 12 cells cell 1 would be accessed by a value between 1 and 10;58, cell 2 by a value between 10.58 and 20.16, etc. So, you could use values of 5, 15, 25, 36, 46, 57 etc. to access different cells of a 12 cell matrix affected by the MIDI Continous Controller you select.

  • I am not really using any controllers for switching patches or matrices. The reason for this is that Nuendo doesn't chase continuous controllers, so there is no guarantee that I will get the correct sound when I start. It does chase notes, so that with this method it is not a problem. This is why I wish that switching off velocity xfade could be done by a keyswitch, rather than a controller. After all it is simply an "on/off" feature. Maybe this is in 1.1. I wouldn't know, as I won't be updating for at least a month.
