  • Is VI public beta stable on MacIntel?

    Hi all,

I'm on an Intel iMac. I've been using Opus 1 & 2 in Logic 7.2 -- albeit without the Performance Tool, since it's not ready for the Intels yet.

But, my goal has always been to get the full Vienna Symphonic Library eventually. Of course, it's going to be in bits and pieces, as my finances will allow.

I'm getting paid for a job in a couple weeks that should allow me to get either Orchestral Strings I or Brass I. I haven't decided which, yet.

Anyway, I'll be using it on my Intel iMac. Hence, my question. Even though Vienna Instruments is only a public beta for the Intel, is it stable? I've looked over the threads in this section, and there doesn't seem to be any big problems being discussed, but I thought I'd better ask those of you who use VI on an Intel Mac to get your feedback before I purchase anything.

    Thanks!
    Kevin

  • kevin, we have not heard about problems (maybe except some related to syncrosoft or corrupt permissions) but we decided to keep it labeled *beta* because we didn't run the usual number of tests for different configurations yet.

  • Hi Kevin,

I just came back from the Salon de la musique et du son in Paris, where I demoed the Vienna Instruments running on a new MacBook Pro for four days - no problems whatsoever!

    Best, Marnix

  • Right on! I'm glad it's working well.

That resolved my only concern about upgrading. Now if only I can decide between the Orchestra Strings I and the Brass I...
