Hello Forum,
i just set up my VI-Instruments. They are distributed to three machines:
The first machine is a PPC G5 2x2Ghz with 4GB RAM. The Strings and Percussion VIs run on Logic feeding a RME Hammerfall. Everything works fine on this machine.
The second computer is a PC 3.2 Ghz wit 2GB RAM a RME-Multiface and Plogue Bidule. All Woodwinds are streamed from fast USB2- Harddisks.
There are no dropouts.
The third machine is a laptop. It is a Futjitsu Siemens Amilo 1425 (1.7 Ghz) with 1 GB RAM and a Multiface via PCMCIA-Cardbus. All Brasssounds are played with Plogue Bidule here from a fast USB2-Harddisk.
The third machine produces dropouts and clicks. Machine number two has nearly the same conditions. What makes the difference here? Especially solo-legatosounds (horn, trumpet) tend to have more dropouts than other sounds. That makes no sense for me?! [*-)]
The defragmented USB2 Disk is directly connected to the computer. The Vienna-Key is plugged into a usb hub. The Win-XP System is installed very slim: just the audio-drivers, Plogue Bidule and VI. thats all.
Would a firewiredisk make a big difference?
